In all seriousness, the reports of his death came back according to OtakuUSA:

According to reports, his body was found floating in shallow water with snorkeling gear on off the coast of Nago City on Okinawa Island. The police and the Nago City branch of the Japan Coast Guard are currently investigating the situation, but it appears to be some sort of diving accident.

This is the most “unexpected death“ post I’ve seen to date. If anything, I’m wondering if the Pokémon creator Satoshi Taijiri heard about this, too.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is basically the one card game that literally brought families together. I still have some real (and fake) cards in my drawer, and it’s both hilarious and sad to me that I had to wake up to this.
