It will never get any more ironic that the same people that yelled up and down about how they despised Donald Trump being President of the United States were deep down the same ones that loved to see Jerry Springer legitimately create the idea of entertaining Trash TV™ to millions of Americans at home and worldwide.

Either way, there will never be another Jerry.

Billy "The Kid" Emerson also died this month at the age of 97.

He is best known for his 1955 song Red Hot.

Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman at the center of the Emmett Till saga, has died.

:heart-empty:

I sometimes forget that Steve Wilkos started on Springer as the show security guard. Then he got his own early Wilkos show style segments. Jerry himself executive produced the Steve Wilkos Show for the longest time, so they clearly were friends/mentors to each other.

My day yesterday was shit and seeing that Jerry died did not help. I grew up watching Springer and Maury after school (and Wilkos bootlegs on YouTube in the mornings in late high school). If Maury Povich goes this year, I’ll be crushed.

What Napoleon XIV looked like a year ago
He still could sing
That is not a shabby vibrato for an octogenarian.

Incidentally despite being mainly known for his novelty hit (and Split-Level Head which is also funny), he was a prolific songwriter and even wrote hits for people like Sammy Davis, Jr.

It's too bad the music industry is such vampiric shit because it is full of talented people like this whose names you probably don't even know unless they did something else to get attention (like writing a highly popular novelty song).

Holy shit, this year has been a meatgrinder for great musicians. David Crosby, Jeff Beck (that one hurt), Harry Belafonte just a few days ago, Tim's brother Robbie Bachman, Burt Bacharach (one of the greats of all time), Ryuichi Sakamoto. The list goes on and on and I'm getting depressed just thinking about it.
2023 is beginning to feel a lot like 2016 wrt celebrity deaths. Not just musicians, but in general.
