Lynch's Dune was better.
Eraserhead and Blue Velvet were pretty much the perfect examples of being artistic while having true integrity to film through visual art. He’s possibly the second best visual storyteller I’ve seen, right next to (maybe) Spike Jonze.

First celebrity related death to bum me out in a long time.

Gonna drink a strong cup of coffee and maybe have some cherry pie

Says something about David Lynch that it is hitting so many people in this thread in the feels. Absolute genius.

Dang, RIP David Lynch. His works of art are one of the only ones to have truely moved me. This is a blow to film. May his art inspire long after his passing.

Genius, but unpretentious, doing his own weird-ass thing at his own speed like a chain-smoking Mr. Rogers, and with adequate funding because for once this wasn't the shittiest of universes.

Even when his movies get weird and dream-logic-y, it's my dream logic, like I'd readily believe Inland Empire was a recording of what I forgot the second my feet hit the floor in the morning.

Wikipedia does not waste time:

Well, hell. This one actually makes me sad. Such a talented director, and by all accounts a lovely man.

His awards push for Inland Empire is still one of my favorite things.
