I believed a journo and didn't check the math; eternal shame on my part.Just a tiny correction, Tofte was 96 years old (born 1930-01-0.
Enchanted Forest isn't Disneyland; they're only open March-September. (Oregon does get pretty cold and rainy for magical fairyland, plus that's when they maintain the rides and repaint.)It's also curious that the family was said to be having financial setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Didn't that end a few years ago?
Enchanted Forest is doing better every year, but they had an entire season (= year )closed where they still had to pay the year-round staff and all the other fixed costs. Then a really bad ice storm hit the PNW in 2021 (the park is literally in a forest, with old trees) plus attendance was still restricted when they could finally open in 2021, after paying even more money to rebuild and do tree work.

They're not Disneyland, just a multigenerational family with cement, chicken wire and a dream. They don't have a money stream when the park's not open.
Although part of what kept them afloat was that they started selling engraved bricks in 2020. Enchanted Forest isn't a nonprofit, but people have feelings about the place, especially if they went there as a kid; this is the normie equivalent of buying a wand from Cobes to keep the dream alive.
