RIP Thread

Patriarch Ilia of Georgia has reposed.

Today also marks the 1 yr anniversary of the repose of a beloved parishoner at my church.

May both their memories be eternal.

nixon was innocent
It was so shocking when Watergate came out, but my dad said nearly all politicians are crooked, Nixon was the only one dumb enough to get caught.

And after going through the Clinton years, what Nixon did is oddly quaint to me. I doubt he was putting cigars in places they were never meant to go.

Matt Clark dead at 89

He was know for many westerns and Back to the Future 3 but I remember him mostly from The Outlaw Josey Wales

From Hollywood Reporter:
Clark also acted alongside Robert Redford in Sydney Pollack’s Jeremiah Johnson (1972)

Rick Hogaboam, mayor of Nampa, Idaho, died at the age of 47 after collapsing during a town hall event speech.
The source article updated with the cause of death being cardiac tamponade.

For anyone who didn't go to medical school (that's me), Cleveland Clinic says cardiac tamponade is a condition where, "[the] heart [...] has so much fluid around it that it can’t pump enough blood. The force of this fluid makes it hard for your heart to do its job. This is a medical emergency. A healthcare provider has to remove the extra fluid with a needle or surgery. You need quick treatment for a good outcome."

Makes me wonder how Hogaboam was feeling that day or week. Sluggish? Noticable heartbeat? Areas of cold, clammy, blue skin?

It looks like he played one of my favorite smaller characters in BTTF 3. The prospector type "yellow" westerner who was with Patt Buttram.

Rip Chuck, dead at 86.

Chuck Norris, the martial arts grandmaster and action star whose roles in "Walker, Texas Ranger" and other television shows and movies made him an iconic tough guy - sparking internet parodies and adoration from presidents - has died at 86.

Norris died Thursday, in what his family described as a "sudden passing."

"While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace," the family said in a statement posted to social media

One of my best childhood memories was sitting with my dad watching Chuck Norris movies, we loved the over the top action scenes of him mowing down several goons with a submachine gun

He was also big in charity and developed his own school of martial arts

He will be missed, even though the Chuck Norris jokes were kinda tacky
