This is some seriously autistic self sufficiency, but essentially this will function to teach you what rocks do what and what you can do with said rocks.

Im gonna start off with im not a geologist so take literally everything I say with a grain of salt, rockhounding just happens to be a niche hobbie for me.

I would show pictures of my cool rocks but my phone is currently broken.

If I find more useful examples I may add them, you might even add them yourself.

Pumice is a great rock if you are wanting to have a solid insulation source, can essentially function as a primative heating pad, can be used to scrub dead skin. It is easily identified as it has a sponge like texture, lots and lotsa holes.
 
I will contribute to this thread that, quartz and flint can both be used to make a spark. Quartz is not as good as flint and wont last as long but if you can't come across any flint on the sides of rivers or lakes quartz will work, it can even be used with a flintlock.
