Never watched any roller derby games, always seemed like more of a southern California thing to me. In fact, I never even knew there were nationally syndicated TV shows until about a year ago while researching a thread.

After finding out negotiations involved my favorite lolcow's mother (performer turned owner of the original Thunderbirds team that was the basis of the TV series' T-birds) a year ago, I recently had the time to watch through Rollergames, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It's the good old fashioned so bad its good 80s cheese that I love. Featuring low budget versions of story lines you'd see in the then WWF, the show features 6 teams, evenly split into heels and faces, the players compete in roller derby in a ring modified to include a wall, jump ramp, and gator pit (incredibly missed opportunity to put the jump over the pit, if you're going to jump the shark, you may as well go full Fonz).

As far as the scoring goes, it's a bit like Whose Line Is It Anyway? "everything is made up and the points don't matter," even with the reedited HD version put out be the producer/cohost David "Who is Jesus, Google" Sams, trying to follow the scores is largely pointless.

The real highlight of the show is Wally George, who delivers gems like this every episode:

Unfortunately, most of the original music rights weren't recovered for the HD version, resulting in there only being two songs in the show, they had the choice of playing either the show's theme, Rock & RollerGames, or the actually catchy, Hit and Run, every episode and chose poorly:

Rollergames only aired for a single season due to the production company going bankrupt before the second season could be filmed, however, if you like cheesy shows from the 80s and a lot of fat jokes, the HD episodes Sams did for the reruns on Fox Sports 1 are up for free on youtube:

One thing to note is that some of the dialog is redone by Sams on top of the reediting.

There's also another series from a decade later called Rollerjam, this is pretty much exactly how you'd expect Rollergames to be if it had been done in the 90s, haven't had the opportunity to watch it, however, all three seasons of it are up on youtube:
