Context and infraction history are always considered when issuing an infraction. And in this particular case, even without the gendered history it's still insulting. "Small minds talk about people." Plenty of people here talk about people.

It's less people getting sick of it and more that like any place that bans at the rate it does they're running out of wrong thinkers to discipline so what condones ban-worthy behaviour has been extended. Again and again. Many who remain are treading on eggshells hence the trouble tickets going "what construes bad behaviour" and the mod non-answers that basically boil down to "whatever we feel like in the moment!" don't help.

So basically it's perfect viewing material for Kiwi Farms.

I have noticed a few mods taking a break. Cessna for one seem to have dropped the forums entirely.

Kind of hard to be a discussion forum when the correct positions on just about every topic has already been decided and consensus is rigorously enforced via the "no threadcrapping" rule.

They don't want a discussion, they want a space of infinite and unconditional Friendship and Acceptance where everyone is welcome and is friends with everyone else. Unfortunately, lurking in the eaves are Secret Hitlers, their hearts filled with irrational hate and bigotry and possessed of a malicious desire to destroy the Friendship by making people feel unwelcome and unsafe. Therefore it is necessary to keep the hugbox as huggy as possible to make sure discord never arises, because Friends Accept Me As I Am. They must treat even the mildest disagreement or criticism as an act of oppression if coming from outside their community or an act of treachery if coming from within, because only a Secret Hitler would do such a thing. If someone reacts badly to being cancelled, it just proves that they were a Secret Hitler all along because they started it, and their actions retroactively prove it.

Going by his post history I would guess rivendellboy is about one infraction from a permaban. He seems to be much younger than most of the tangency regulars and younger, angrier leftists are more willing to say the quiet parts out loud.
