RPGnet Forums

Over the pettiest possible thing too. I'm fully convinced the other mods wanted her gone badly and just manufactured an opportunity. Ironically she was the only mod to actually rp regularly on the site.

My fellow shitposters, we must trust the science.

After three shots with no discernible health benefit, how can people keep getting more? I'm baffled when I see people make posts like this. These are the goons who will say "my body my choice" but seem to have no insight whatsoever into their own personal health decisions.

Looks like someone can't take the stifling speech restrictions on the forum. ( Archive )

This is more chilling to me than all the left wing extremism. A decent mod would just say "Sure, bye." This reminds me of East Germany.
They could have gotten away with asking if the poster was sure, that at least is normalish mod behaviour. Responding to someone else's post fishing for why they came to feel that way with "don't ask questions in these threads unless you're an authority figure" as you say is 100% the behaviour of the sort of governance that has every poster's social credit score noted.

Im surprised "low-rent troll" isnt getting called out as mocking poor ppl; i for one feel attacked by that.

I have half a mind to make an account and make each post a paragraph in which every capital letters spells NIGGER. Something like:
"Nevertheless. In my experience that's not only Good, but Great. Ease of use could erase accesibility isues an bring more people to the hobby. Respect for eachother is key."

Just to see the reaction if/when they find out.

Staff can and will edit/wipe your posts to prevent wrongthink.

You know what's sad? Most of the jannies joined in 2003 or 2004 and have not had one bit of self-realization in eighteen fucking years.

There are people who were born, grew up, and became legal adults while these people were posting on RPGnet and terrorizing the board's population themselves, and not once - not once - in nearly 20 years have these people stopped and thought about it.

Granted, moderation has gotten worse in the most recent years with the SJW influx, but the root of the problem existed as far back then as it does now.

I think they have thought about it and they've chosen wrong every time. If you time traveled back to 2006-era rpg.net it wouldn't be too different from the games subforum here on the farms-angry liberals ranting about Bush warcrimes excepted. Banter and joking was still allowed and mentioning slavery or orc genocide would generate discussion instead of a round of bans.

But because the mods were largely liberal they leaned left whenever an issue came up. So you got called racist if you didn't have the correct opinion when Obama ran for president. And you got called sexist if you didn't have the correct opinion when gamergate happened. And racist again when Zimmerman shot Trayvon. Etc etc. Two decades of that and you've weeded out anyone who doesn't think in lockstep with the ruling clique (or is hiding out in the pbp subforum) and you have your perfectly open and perfectly tolerant gaming site.

To illustrate my point, here's two threads about slavery, one from 2002 and the other from 2010. See if you can picture this level of discourse happening today.

"We've tried scolding and we've tried shaming, but white men keep radicalizing, we're out of ideas. Also we need rural people to vote blue. Yes, I know we've spent the past decade calling them racist scum so is there some way to erase all that? Like a big reset button or something?"

To be fair they've at least sort of recognized that they have a problem and that sitting around gloating about demographic shifts and disdaining less densely populated areas isn't a safe strategy. They've also sort of recognized that having some carrots to offer would be a good idea if they want to get more people on their side. That's more insight than some people would have.
