A thread of handwringing about how the new Werewolf game is full of wrong ideas and getting offended on behalf of other people devolves into that most horrific of sins, talking back to the mods.

At this point I have to assume non-moderators only stay on RPG.net for the same reason long-term indoctrinated members of cults don't leave the compound.

They seriously censored 'Umbra'.

Everything I want to say about that choice boils down to, that is a fucking moron right there. End them, they have no use to this planet.
It's actually almost impressive how consistently retarded and asinine the moderation is on that site. How do people even end up acting like that? Do they experience any shame or embarrassment at what utter pieces of shit they are, even for an instant?

Did they? I saw they blotted out "Uktena." And they definitely censored "Wendigo," so I guess you're just not allowed to discuss native American mythological beasts. Seems a narrow view for a site devoted to RPGs, but what do I know.

Ah, my mistake, yes it was Uktena. Though they didn't censor the Irish one.

I still maintain that these people are witless wastes of oxygen for censoring such words. Let alone behaving as if a single real Native American will see what they've done and appreciate it.

Like ResetEra, it's funny for RPGnet to be so filled with NPCs though.

The Wendigo thing really gets me. It's a mythological creature created to strengthen the taboo on cannibalism no different than the Arabian ghoul. I don't see what is so wrong about having it in stories, especially since it's clear nobody is willing to treat European or even East Asian mythological creatures particularly faithfully.

Maybe it's because Wendigo and Uktena were tribes in the last WtA game, and since they were two of the Native American tribes, they are basically slurs now.

The "appropriative" makes me think the beef is that non-Natives came up with the tribe names. Which is racist as fuck, but par for the course with modern day World of Darkness players and RPG.net slobs.

I notice they never addressed the "are you Irish" question. The ban claims how some moderators are totally Irish/Scottish/whatever version they need to claim to win the diversity Top Trumps but apparently the answer is that they are not, unlike the banned person. But there were lots of reports about that banned person so clearly they are not really Irish/Scottish/whatever.

Only the Elect of the Church of Social Justice have the privilege duty to speak on behalf of Oppressed and Marginalized(TM) folx.

It's cultural appropriation to even use the word.

"Ufuckna"? "Wcunto"? What the hell kind of game is Werewolf?

RPGnet mods continue to find fun new ways to punish the remaining users who haven't wised up and moved on to a better forum.

First up we have a dreaded Group Attack on (*checks notes*) people who use Social Media. Simply for saying that he/she would not turn off the government-run emergency broadcast alerts. Link

Next we have a real hot take buried in a long-ass manifesto about a "Religion in RPGs" thread. I find it amusing that the mods seem to think that all religion-related conspiracies must necessarily be antisemitic. As if the Catholic Church doesn't literally have 2000 years of all kinds of conspiracies, intrigue, and skeletons in the closet. Link

Then we have a two-for-one with the usual "gotcha" approach to moderation:

First guy made a simple statement that the thread is very interesting, which led to series of probing questions from Zeea - note every single sentence is about Christianity. He obliges with an informative answer, and promptly gets a two-week trip to the gulag for derailing the thread from da Jews. Link

Second guy made a short reply to a Wall of Text about Christianity, and he too gets whacked with a two-week vacation while nothing happens to Wall of Text guy (must be a mod pet). Link

And then we have the Grand Finale - 30 day ban and thread closure for wondering if/how underwater races can forge metal, and musing over the potential disadvantages if they are essentially stone-age cultures. Tbh I'm more upset about the thread getting closed, there were some interesting ideas from everyone else about how the water-races might obtain metal or simply not need it, beyond "duh, magic".

Honestly I think RPG.net is the inevitable future for Reset Era. No actual discussion, just regurgitation of mod stances or bans for those who don't.
And it's horrifying to think Reeeeee is less bad than anywhere.
That's how it works now. The "A-game" threads are pretty much enforced consensus, no jokes, no tangents, no criticism or disagreement, just slobber the mods' knobs.

And don't forget the big one "NO SPECULATION", everything must be well-sourced links. So (in theory) no one's allowed to interpret events or draw inferences or in any way connect the dots to maybe gain a better understanding of the topic. Unless of course you're a mod or mod pet, in which case rules don't apply.
