Siege mentality. I'm sure there's a few freelance artists posting there just because it's a good audience for someone with they/them pronouns and a rose in their Twitter bio, but a good chunk of tangency posters genuinely believe that ol' big purple is the last remaining bastion of tolerance and decency on the internet. These are the kinds of people who think Reddit is too right wing. I'm not making that up, by the way. I'll have to dig it up and get some screenshots but there was a recent thread in tangency about "What other communities are you a part of?" and for a lot of people the answer was "none" because no other community met their standards. Not reddit, not rpgpub, not spacebattles. Goes a long way towards explaining some of the shit we see come through here.
