RPGnet Forums

0Megabyte was also doing a good job of pointing out the hysterical rhetoric used by these posters ("These people CANNOT BE REASONED WITH AND WANT ME TO DIE," so obviously the unspoken solution would be to kill these murderous fuckers), but actually saying that is a no-no, since it would force the posters who post that sort of alarmist claptrap to consider that maybe their situation isn't quite so dire as they make it out to be.

The entire thread is a shitstorm of BAWWWtism about how everyone who supports Trump wants them dead, therefore anything goes. (But don't actually say that!)

What a bunch of pussies.

If they believed in their cause for real they'd round the Trump supporters into those FEMA camps and gas them.

RPGNet continues to debate the most important issue of our times: the bathroom laws for troons.

I wonder if this 6 foot, 270 pound, mustached pro wrestler realizes how much of his misery is self-inflicted.

So, here’s a bit of cross-forum drama. The official forums for Green Ronin (makes of Mutants and Masterminds and the Dragon Age RPG) is shutting down, with no warning. Here’s a rundown of what happened (for which the user caught mod-flak):

A much longer and more detailed explanation is here.

This is from the Green Ronin forums, Nikchick is the owner/CEO:

And she spergs a little more in truly Sarkeesian-esque fashion as people scramble to save their favorite material, with bonus GamerGate and Pundit name-drops:

Because pissing off your customer base is such a good idea for a small niche hobby company. Seriously, they had been profitable in spite of themselves, but this is going to sink them.

The mods are starting to realize that they don't like the autistic hugbox that they've created and set themselves up as guardians of, so they're banning politics threads for 10 days. It goes over about as well as expected.

I feel whatever good point that mod is making was totally dashed with that giga-autistic "Feast of St. Godzilla" comment.

Tfw when you just wanted to play D&D but the faggy community won't shut up about imaginary gas chambers.

This is why if you're going to post on an RPG forum you should just stick to /tg/. Yeah it's basically a watered-down mixture of /pol/ and /d/ by this point and it comes with all the baggage you can expect from 4chan but at least you won't get banned for using the wrong pronouns.

Basically, this. I find the backwards tendencies of the greybeards to be a little overbearing at times and I don't care for Warhammer, but it's about the last place you can have an even semi-realistic discussion about gender, politics, or slavery in a setting.

Egh, honestly lately that's also been kind of toxic. Except it's the other way, where it's just "go back to tumblr" shitflinging. The only real reason I consider /tg/ any kind of refuge is it's relatively free of mod drama. 4chan mods generally just delete threads, ban users, and move on. Unlike many other forums like RPG.net, where the mods are some kind of "elite" inner circle of faggots who just engage in high school-tier drama arcs with each other and the users. You won't find any of this self-indulgent "we're banning political conversations because this is haaaaard" bullshit there.

Frankly, banning political discussion is probably for the best for their forum, from what I can tell. While I lament the loss of E/N here, I do think it's seemed to chill some people out a bit.

Some forums can handle it, some can't.

I must concur. The majority of the autism is contained either in Tangency's various politics and pity party threads. That and the occasional "X is the best version of D&D, anyone who disagrees with me is exceptional" thread that gets shut down pretty quick.

The number of people who keep posting trans-drama and other such salty bullshit are a pretty slim minority, but a vocal one. It’s impressive to see how such a small number of SJWs can fuck up what was once a pretty fun community.

Man I could never be a mod on that site because I wouldn't be able to resist making fun of these fucking nerds for shitting their pants over Warren G. Harding II: The Trumpening.

What weirds me out is that one mod said they wanted a moratorium on political drama just to engage with every single hand grenade each dipshit threw into that thread. Even when they say they're sick of drama they still keep perpetuating it.

This is like standing in an ashen wasteland and yelling "okay guys, no more unsupervised campfires!". Your community is rotten to the core because of your inaction and 10 days of no politics won't save it.

Surprised no one has posted this as this is the most posted thing about this site.

Derailing and suppression of sexism-related discussion

We’ve previously had a serious problem with female gamers being made to feel unwelcome on the forum by systematic derailment and suppression of discussions of sexism. As a result we have identified a number of behaviours that we will infract.

These behaviours are largely covered by Rule 1 anyway, and not limited to the area of sexism, but we are devoting extra scrutiny to their contribution to this particular problem. They include:

- Threadjacking discussion from the female to the male experience of an issue
- Denying the experiences of female posters
- Demanding to be educated on the subject
- Concern trolling (such as "But I'm concerned discussion of sexism will drown out discussion of the good things about $GAME")
- Questioning the validity of sexism as a phenomena or a topic of discussion at RPGnet
- Demanding that the debate be reframed (e.g. "This debate is too emotional"/"This should only be about solutions, not criticisms" etc.)
- Accusing other posters of looking to be offended
- Accusing male posters of "White-Knighting" or otherwise arguing against sexism solely for the approval of women

You actually get banned if you tell people to stop derailing a thread via talking about sexism and focus on the discussion at hand. Or if you even question any claim of sexism people see in something or have experienced in their lives.

Lol hilarious what kind of gay ass site would ban discussion of U.S. politics.
