I want to start off by saying, I like this guy:
I love his animations and art work. And I just love his positive spirit. But I make this thread because...
...I just SMELL incoming drama that may be related to socio-political, but above all, spiritual beliefs. This is due to some cold reading of his recent work. It's going to blow up, I'm sure of it. ALL artists have their crazy midlife crisis period. This guy is 34 and its happening now. He's going to adopt some unconventional beliefs, and he's going to alienate some people for sure.
For those not in the know, Rwappin is classic animator from Newgrounds, and he's been around and he's still active doing things. (I know some of you are thinking, "Is Newgrounds still a thing?!" And the answer is "Yes.")
But back to Rwappin, you may have known him for his unofficial, but decent-for-Flash animated Weird Al music videos:
Or his music videos for the late Logan Whitehurst:
Or his music videos for Something Awful superstars, Lemon Demon:
Or, now that I think about it, unofficial music videos for any Dorkcore scene band out there:
Now, his recent work, seems to take great inspiration from the New Age Movement with all its glory and all its horror in all its potentiality. He said in the interview that I posted, that his whole life has been leading up to this moment. This work may be his Magnum Opus. That work, is END TIMES:
Now for those who need a reminder, the New Age movement is series of beliefs embraced by many different faith based factions including: Hippies, Paleo-conservatives, Southern Baptists, Rastafarians, 369ers, Falun Gongs, Conspiracy Theorists, Mall Daoists, Mall Buddhists, JZ Knights Ramtha cult, Neo-Pagans, Anarcho-Primitivists, David Icke, Ufologists, Cryptozoologists, surfers, Paleo-conservative Southern Baptist Hippies, Paleo-conservative Neo Pagan Hippies, and, your mom, because she read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
A usual basic run down of such belief systems comes down to this. Everything you know is wrong. Your world is not all that you know, those in power are corrupted wizards who use symbology and the energy used behind those symbols to rule and control your world. They may or may not be lizards in addition to wizards. Through faith and meditation, and maybe hallucinogens, one can astral project to see the truth and elevate oneself beyond base desires and achieve divinity. Also possibly, a rejection of everything you may learn in school with strange ideas based on antiquated legends, myths, and superstitions.
If this sounds similar to Jordan Duchnyz of Spirit Science fame, that's because it is similar, and that is where I'm getting at.
Spirit Science ended up with grifting, rape, and the impersonation of a doctor. These trees are grown from the same root, and that root may be a rotten after all. This End Times story is a parable for our modern times. Let's cold read some things shall we?
This is our main character. The painfully aptly named Joel Trustworthy. He's a dorky kid with a crush on a girl that he works with. The plot involves this kid going to a college to become talented and skilled in order to be the best version of himself. Also his dad is a pastor in a struggling church that struggles due to his fiery sermons which is lost on a secular society that losing touch with traditional values. Joel has to "bridge the gap" by "integrating his father's beliefs into the modern world." Joel is caught in struggle between good and evil. :
So about that evil, Joel's roomate at the college is essentially the coomer guy meme. He may be a metaphor for how masturbating is ticket a to hell. He's like that one redditor who said that Masturbation was the best part about being atheist. He is described as being manipulated by an "Archon.":
Who are the Archons? They are essentially devils. They feed off of negative emotions like fear and hatred, and they want to drag all of humanity down with them. Which brings us to world leaders like politicians and businessmen and like who make a deal with archons so that they can feed on other folk while they themselves get massive power over the world.
One such archon collaborator is the Headmaster of the college himself. He's a secret lizard man and an absolute psychopath!!!:
The lizardman has some cohorts, including scientist man who I am certain represents modern science and the things you learn in public school. I'm guessing this comic will espouse a paleo-conservative flavor of New Age. Therefore, I suspect this comic will reject concepts like biological evolution, gender studies, and vaccines/germ theory:
Now comes the other protagonists Ray and Vin. Ray Wappin seems to be a self insert for Ryan Kryzak, since, that's the name he's going by right now:
Vin on the other hand is an atheist that somehow manages to astral project despite being atheist. Together, Ray and Vin are characters that are there to protect Joel from the moral decay of the world.
Now like I said, this comic appears to be lifting pages from things like The Secret. Namely the "Law of Attraction" In this piece of concept art, Joel wakes up at the impossible 3:69 AM, The number is in reference to the 369 method, which involves manifesting things into reality by writing them on paper and putting a lot of thought and energy and will into it. However, from my experience, my parent always told me that you cant always get what you want, and a lot of times life is really just random and we don't have control over all things despite what The Secret says:
Strawman Boy! His name is Jeffrey Epstein on top of all that. Pathetic guys believes what his teachers tell him.:
Paisley and June here seem to be a satire of furries and weeabos respectively and their subcultures effect on children. Something I think this site will definately enjoy and consider an absolute highlight of this comic regardless of what it's community will think of it. The furry one in the pikachu outfit, Paisley is going to have episodes and arcs involving her doing ASMR. Which is kinda disturbing. My guess is that Paisley will likely be recording ASMR, not truly understanding what it is, and Penneticus Uneli, the coomer guy, will likely be the one downloading the mp3s : https://archive.ph/crUvx
On the opposite side of the spectrum, opposing the Archons, are the nobodies. Which are fragments of God that split apart in order to journey and learn:
Now I can't send links to the entire comic series as of now, because it's getting pretty as write this wait for the archive site to make special archive links for each link I share. So I'll end this with some select pages from the comic that has been released so far:
You see, Ray Wappin exists in the "Slow Realm" which is the realm where we physically exist in, but his astral projection zooms around in the "fast realm" the spirit realm which also the realm of imagination and ideas. Everything that manifests in the slow realm, already happened in the fast realm and he even quotes Sun Tzu too on that:
Now here, he brings up Spiritual Warfare, and on this page, he demonstrates that with an image of a street block with some billboards available:
Now think of this as in the movie They Live, because that is the corner stone of a lot of New Age beliefs from all across the political spectrum. The idea that advertisments or billboards and like are deeply coded "fjords." Like you put the LSD inspired sunglasses on, and then you see that the Sports Illustrated magazine is actually commanding you to "HAVE SEX" and you see all the yuppies are weird skeleton people.
With that in mind, what do you see when you see those billboards? They represent temptations, as far as I imagine from the author's point of view. You catch things like an advertisement for an action movie with the tagline :"Vengeance is hers!" which is a commentary on how movies glorify violence and unchristian acts, which is a fair criticism. Then there's a donut shop, asking people to "indulge" and a beer commercial asking people to "enjoy yourself". Which brings us to two particular adverts that I think will lead to a lolcow coming out of this comic, though, only depending on how the community of this site feels about such things. One advert reads "Protect your children!" showing a SHOT being INJECTED into a CHILD! Just like how most of us were injected as children(not counting the (un?)lucky few whose New Age parents refused or wormed their way out of vaccinating your child. Yes like I mentioned the scientist villain early, I believe this comic is going to take an anti-scientific stance, or at the very least, regardless of what you believe, an anti-academic stance, considering that the effectiveness of vaccines is a tidbit that is taught in schools to this very day, including other things people like to debate these days like the holocaust, or evolution, or global warming.
Another advert states "Love is Love", which is a modern adage used to justify or support the existence of same sex marriage. This comic might just get a little homophobic. I'm calling it.
So in the end this comic may either start a shitstorm within a community of 14 year olds who vote five on "TEEN TITANS HENTAI", or its creator may do something lulzy or embarrassing down the line, or it might just become our new favorite webcomic by convert us into New Ageists who will stop masturbating, start meditating, astral project and expose archons to the light, or maybe all three of those. Either way, there's gonna be some lulz derived from this and its going to be really messy.
