"Save Pepe" Kickstarter Live from creator Matt Furie - Be Nice Man

So whilst browsing Kickstarter I happened upon something quite interesting. Creator of the true hero of the Alt-Right, Pepe the Frog, has started a Kickstarter to bring Pepe back from the dead. Which he killed off earlier this year in an attempt to take back control of his beloved toad.

From Matt Furie on Kickstarter: "Our aim is to resurrect Pepe the Frog in a new comic book reclaiming his status as a universal symbol for peace, love, and acceptance."

It seems to me that he has had enough of his creation becoming a internet symbol of hate (again). He wants him to be the hippie pants dropping, fart sniffing frog he was meant to be once more.

Most of the comments on the Kickstarter campaign seems to thrust disappointment on him for not taking advantage of his instant Internet/4chan fame by retaliating towards everyone that loved the character. (also Matt's heart was on Hillary, hence his frustration of the situation, LuLz).

So far his Kickstarter has been funded, but if Matt just went along with the ride in the first place and embraced the Internets hilarious response to his creation. I'd bet his dumb ass 4th book on Kickstarter would have garnered MUCH more attention then what it has, at this moment.

Wait what?

I thought he ceremoniously killed the damn amphibian, to absolutely no practical effect other than mild amusement over the internet.

So this would be him hypocritically cashing in on nu-Pepe's fame, which he in no way contributed to after drawing that one panel, right?
 
My :feels:'s are alot of his backers are trolls. Just the few that even bothered to even comment on his campaign gave him a $1 just to talk shit in the comments, then backed out. There may be future salt from this....

Baffling how this guy thinks that because he created the image years go then he can reign it in. I hesitate to say that it's beyond his control because that would imply it ever was in-it. He put his comic up, people used it out of context and now it's become its own thing against-which Matt's feelings are entirely irrelevant.

The joke is that's it's a giant internet in-joke, it's in no-way connected to what-ever source it originally came from.

When Pepe was aknowledged as a hate symbol, this dude went to an interview and said it would blow over and Pepe had many incarnations in internet culture and it's silly to blow a fuse.
I respected him for that.

Then he blew a fuse, started to tardrage and it went downhill from there.

Now I wish him the best of luck, the most notable thing he ever made in his live has been taken away from him by people who are having a lot more fun and impact with it than he could have ever hoped to have.
This Kickstarter thing is OPL-Levels of autism. He tried to reclaim Pepe by killing him, now he wants to sort of fight back but also miIk the moneymachine... it's ridiculous.

Before Hillary had her OLD LADY YELLS AT FROG moment, there were no more hateful Pepe memes than any other kind of popular meme. It had nearly run its course and was more associated with /r9k/ and wizards anyway.

So they're basically pulling the same shit that Chris's trolls pulled on him on his PayPal. Holy shit, $5,000 for a page? Guy is almost as delusional as Chris was with the shirt.
