So what is scambaiting? Well, put simply, you enter into a dialogue with scammers, simply to waste their time and resources. Whilst you are doing this, you will be helping to keep the scammers away from real potential victims and screwing around with the minds of deserving thieves.

So in short white hat trolls. What they do is find scrammers and screw with them.

How do you ask?

Well you tube has a few works of scambaiting art such as.

and in one video having one Nigerian doing jackass stunts in exchange for cash.

What have you heard about scam baiting? You ever do it? What do you think of it?

My favorite such incident was when they tricked Nigerian scammers into transcribing all 293 pages of a Harry Potter book by hand on the promise of payment, which they of course then didn't give them.

Unfortunately I tried to find a link to it to share but multiple links I found are dead (including the listing to is on the 419eater site).

Reddit YouTube and other places have dedicated scambaiting communities. Just look for good stories I guess

The Hoax Hotel is a good source for this, the guy doing the calls has even learned a lot of whatever language they typically speak in the area of india that most scammers live in/operate out of and tends to lead them on for a pretty long time.

this one's probably my favorite, as i think the dude is genuinely minutes away from putting a bullet in his brain just trying to get money out of this "old lady"

My favorite is one getting a Nigerian to jump off roofs, set himself on fire and other Jack ass stunts. I can't find it. Let me know if you find the video

Considering scambaiters, here's one that is gold.
Dude uses an Arnold soundboard to fuck with a Nigerian scammer. The scammer goes from preacher to gigolo with a long dick as he's being baited by a soundboard.

I love doing this.

My work phone gets tons of robodialing scammers every week. Since I know there is no way they can get my real identity from the number or the listing, I totally fuck with them. They call me offering to readjust my credit card interest, I act really dumb, get them to think I'm the perfect mark, then start asking them incredibly detailed questions about their business operation and company standing. I've had scammers on the line for 45 minutes with that one. Then there's the "Microsoft and Apple" team that want to "fix" my computer remotely. To them, I act super polite, but ask them to describe the problems they're fixing with full technical detail. THAT one had them on the line for 2 hours, and my computer wasn't even on once during the call.

When they finally do lose their shit, they're hilarious. I love it when someone who called ME, with the intention of ripping ME off, gets mad at ME for not being dumb enough to fall for it. And tells me to suck a cock, that I'm a motherfucking faggot, that I can go fuck off and burn in hell... it's GLORIOUS!!!

Not just that but so he had to pay the postage to claim it. They also sent him a huge log.

I love that he knows enough about the USA to try to pull off a scam using the systems in place here, but not enough to understand that the FBI doesn't operate like it's some third world hell hole where they just go and make citizens disappear. No one in the U.S.A. is worried about the FBI showing up and putting two in the dome over some trivial BS that no one was paying attention to because you ticked off the wrong person.

We all know it's the CIA that does that.

There was a feature on this in Bizarre magazine (when it was actually good). It had a picture of a Nigerian scammer who had been baited into photographing himself holding up a sign saying "I felch wombats for Charlie Manson."

Needless to say, that was the pull quote.

Well, this wasn't a scam originally, but this is a true story of what happened when an insurance company that was seemingly legit steps into pulling scammer bullshit to get their money and gets caught.

My dad has had some medical problems in later years, and apparently his insurance company hired some ultra scummy collections agents to handle stuff over the phone, one of which was not only stupid enough to not only try to threaten my father with outright extortion to get money, but even had the brass to claim they had already spoken with his personal lawyer about it.

Given my father was ill and under the influence of medication at the time, he almost broke down in tears trying to get these people to leave him alone, but I just happened to hear the exchange, cut the scumbag off by saying over another connection what he was doing was outright illegal and advised my dad with the bastard in earshot to call his bluff.

He hung up on the guy just as he was about to try and weasel out of it and did just that. His lawyer hit the ceiling and made a few calls to the insurance company after hearing that one.

I don't know all the details, but I do know the debt magically disappeared, the company in question cut us loose with no strings attached (I understand they were like a termite infested tree and got sued to hell and back by others they pulled this shit on later), and we haven't had to worry about a shitbag company like that since.
