“[Shadow work] is the idea that we all have different parts to ourselves,” Sweeton explains. “The parts of ourselves that have been exiled… tend to become the shadow parts.”
“As a child, there are many times you’re told to stop doing something… or repress parts of yourself that… for whatever reason have [been] deemed unacceptable,” says Short.

But of course, our parents had their own internally bloated instincts and unresolved traumas, or were cruel psychopaths.
Collectively it's a similar thing, with our piece of shit systems.
Our internalized parents, if not worked, are as shitty as our worldly ones
For example, if you had a sadistic and manipulative mother, you could be very masochistic
If you had a dumb and brutish father you could be sadistic

Here is some stuff I collected from the internet, I didn't read them fully and don't necessarily agree with everything they say.

"What is the shadow?"

Eckhardt Tolle calls the shadow the pain body, it is the unconscious aspect of our being that we do not identify with, that we are in denial to, feeling separate from.

"This is simply part of us that is judged not good enough. Here we encounter the wounded child but also our wounded feminine and masculine aspects. The shadow holds our fears, our insecurity, our self-sabotage, self-sacrifice, self-punishment and other anti-life programs. Here we store unresolved past memories and unconscious beliefs that perpetuate suffering."

"Shadow work is the process of owning up to the aspects of ourselves that we tend to deny or repress.

It’s about coming to terms with the parts of ourselves that we don’t like or that make us feel uncomfortable, and it can be a difficult and challenging process.

It typically involves exploring our dark side – the parts of ourselves that we keep hidden away – and can be a very confronting and painful experience.
For that reason, it’s not uncommon for people to feel scared or even terrified when they first start doing shadow work."

Many insecure macho men could be absolutely terrified of confronting their own sensitivity, and the more scared they are the more gay they really are inside

Yes but how does it tie into the Akashic record? Most of this just seems like basic bitch theory of mind couched on new age woo terms.
It's a Jung thing. Nothing new.

But anyway, basic bitch response for basic bitch proposition:
Everyone has parts of their personality that they attempt to suppress for a variety of reasons. The simple answer is to identify what's antisocial or counterproductive and the accept/cope with them in a healthy manner. Don't pretend it's not there. But have some level of self control or you end up like Chris Chan.

To ascend to higher realms you need to do it, Jung never did it himself.

The journey to your mind is a noble one. But beware of paths that lead to self-destruction. At the end of the day, its a a matter of balance, discipline and a plan to keep yourself under control.

It seems in times like these, Alita seems to be the most relevant.

Hey remember when you were a kid and wanted to push your sibling out into traffic, but your mom wouldn't let you so you got the feeling that it was wrong?
Forget all that! Embrace the part of you that wants to maim and kill! It's how you were meant to be!

...at least that's what I'm getting from this whole Shadow Work crap. Why are we actively trying to de-evolve?
