SHiFT as he's known by. Is a spongebob battle for bikini bottom speedrunner who makes his living streaming his attempts at whittling down his world record by mere seconds. Spending the last 8 years or 20,000 hours of playtime mastering the skill's required to be the very best in this one specific game, and he is! Having held the world record since 2016 and amassing enough subs on twitch to be at one point the 18th most subscribed channel on the platform. Earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a year streaming!
The bleak reality of his situation are his days spend playing the same exact game for 10 hours at a time. Most runs ending in 5 minutes or less. Despite being an expert of the game twice over, SHiFT is still at the mercy of luck and frame prefect precision. The skills required to be the best at an individual speed game are largely non-transferable, SHiFT has confined himself to a life of running the same 44 minute speedrun for years. For some reason SHiFT rarely streams other games, making no consistent effort to branch out to other genre's of streaming despite having a sizable audience.
This concoction of circumstance's slowly eroding his patience over the many years of his career and his generally short temper has turned him into one of the angriest gamers ever documented, going ballistic constantly. Whether it be messing up a glitch 30 minutes into a run, fucking up that same jump 5 minutes into a game for the 10th time in a row or a well meaning fan voicing his deturbed concern. There is no shortage of him losing his shit!

Early Life

Having started his internet career speedrunning spongebob battle for bikini bottom. His entire history is intertwined with its speedrunning scene. His first videos would consist of demonstrating tech intended for other runners of the game. The route was much more unoptimized and the crowd was bigger so there was much more to be learned and a community to share it with. This era was rather boring as SHiFT did not rage at all or stream with a face cam.

It took SHiFT about a year of grinding out runs to achieve his first world record on june 5 2016. Only losing it once for a week it would remain uncontested to this day. Even by speedrunning standards battle for bikini bottom is brutal, Featuring hundreds of different frame-perfect jumps and glitches that if performed wrong can end a run instantly. This would filter out the vast majority of potential runners who could only learn these glitches by talking to the runners personally or by bashing your skull against a wall via trial and error. Which is what SHiFT did, The current route of the game is one he came up with all by himself as resources didn't exist back then. the community only consisted of 12 live viewers shared between SHiFT, his nemeses fluff, and a few other weirdos who were actively competing for a world record, they would all eventually dip leaving SHiFT to optimize and grind the game by himself. spending the next 6 years finding new more risky starts, further shortening the run at the pace of about 2 minutes a year.

Rise to popularity

What SHiFT is most known for are his documentaries about the speed lore of battle for bikini bottom. Most of his audience would find him from these videos. He even got a shout out from critical.
these documentaries and well made for what they are, SHiFT sucks himself off a lot and takes centerstage for most of it, which is why only two of the four parts are currently released as the rest of it would just be him talking about himself in the third person. Most of the people who watched them are totally unaware of his notorious aptitude for sperging out.

Part one
part two

Typical SHiFT stream

SHiFT streams usually for around 10 hours at a time, the heavily optimized nature of the run and consistency of frame-perfect tricks means most of his runs don't make it past the five-minute mark, some not even making it to two. According to him, a run ender happens every 30 seconds. This has the predictable result of driving him past the point of insanity unseen by even notorious rage tards like wings of redemption. When he's not screaming SHiFT is usually silent, scowling at the game anticipating a reset. This has earned him the name squward among alogs

SHiFT abuses his fans

Despite only speedrunning one single game SHiFT has managed to gain a sizable audience who are often concerned that he will die of a heart attack playing spongebob before he's 30. This is met with the same amount of vitriol.

SHiFT's response to trolls

SHiFT seems to deal with all stresses in life the same way he deals with dropping a frame-perfect trick. By yelling at them. This has created a wings of redemption style alog sektor that prods him into long winded rants for their amusement

Concerned fan tells SHiFT he should take a break. SHiFT boasts about how good his is at speedrunning and how he can't stop because he will lose his proficiency (Archive)

SHiFT rants about a single troll for 40 minutes. Goes on about being the reason rehydrated got made, boasts about being the community leader and figurehead of a spongebob game from 2003 that 30 actively run delusions of grandeur (Archive)

SHiFT rants about trolls while getting tilted. Can't tell whos a real fan anymore (Archive)

SHiFT apologies for his action but never actually changes (Archive)

SHiFT's disaster subathon

In the wake of a reduction in revenue on twitch, in an effort to make as much as much money as possible. SHiFT would start his subathon, a variety stream that would consist of viewers donating to increase a timer that would end the stream if it reached zero. This event would go on from august to october of 2022 or 2000 hours of content. During this 80 day stretch on content. SHiFT would find himself in a major controversy after he started e begging despite already being the 18th most subbed channel on twitch and making around 150k during the event.

The consensus on this video was very bad, many former fans speaking up about the atmosphere of his streams being awkward, my favorite comment comparing it to being over at a friend's house when he starts arguing with his parents.
This outburst got the attention of a much larger streamer ludwig who lambasted him for being ungrateful and his general attitude. This comment is lost to time, but it really rattled his cage and talked about it for an hour after it happened.

The stream otherwise still grated on him, he was only getting around 2 hours of sleep a night and was receiving a lot of negative attention due to the aforementioned event. Viewers would start edging the timer, waiting for it to go down to one minute in which it would beep loudly before donating a small amount again. One person even exploited a workaround with twitches regional currency system. spent $15USD to force him to play some boring garbage shitpost game for 10 hours

I have never seen someone so unhappy to receive money (Archive)

Responds to ebegging accusations

A-log's emerge

Because of his propensity to rage at anyone and the general sour vibes of his streams. A considerable trolling clique would form. Made up of jaded former fans, clip farmers and general lolcow rage enjoyers.
His detractors have gained considerable popularity compared to him now and are unavoidable to any current and prospective viewer.

Some of his alogs are
LOWTIERSHIFT some non-binary brazilian who singlehandedly created SHiFT ditractor-vers. The sean ranklin of SHiFT. None of this would exist without him.
SHIFT COMMUNITY W Makes edits of SHiFT streams showcasing his breakdowns. much like Wings007 and others
WURT WEAKLY Inactive but has a massive backlog of videos for you to watch
MR HOUSE Clip channel. Mostly sound bites and some longer videos went rouge recently and is now on a one man crusade against the shift hater-verse. His allegiances and motives are unknown. But this betrayal threatens to undermine the communities disposition and righteousness. if left unchecked. May even diminish it entirely
This playlist is huge and super fun
SHIFT_COMMUNITY Is a bot that automatically uploads his twitch vods for prosperity

TLDR

♦SHiFT is a spongbob squarepants: battle for bikini bottom speedrunner of 8 years, 20,000 hours of in game time and 6 year undisputed world record holder
♦Insists on streaming the exact same game for 10 hours a day. Never branching out to another game or subject
♦Battle for bikini bottom is a brutal speedrun, most runs end within 5 minutes. a run ending frame perfect trick occurs every 30 seconds
♦Debatably the angriest gamer you ever heard, trumps prime wings of redemption by several factors
♦Takes out frustration on fans, bans them frequently in fits of tard rage
♦Unwarranted ego. SHiFT thinks really highly of himself who being the de facto leader of spongbob speedrunning and having the world record
♦Has gained a anti-fan following similar to darksydephil or wings of redemption

I'm surprised we didn't have a thread on him sooner. I love rage compilations of this guy.

When you get the chance, please archive his social media things. You also have a handful of attachments which are not embedded.

The writing in your thread is fine right now, but I'd also suggest correcting some capitalization mistakes. I recognize this is most likely a first draft, currently.

i'm shocked the 18th most subbed person on twitch is a spongebob speedrunner. like... how is it that interesting?

One thing i'm just curious about: his reaction to the remake of the game. I know he talked about it at some point but i'm curious to know if it was something spergy.

I have no idea why people watch him speed run the same game everyday for 10 hours, i actually cannot tell you. I would have done variety streaming or something.
At some point he was 18th now hes wayyy below that https://twitchtracker.com/shift During his subathon he was drawing in double the viewers and was actually entertaining to his fans

Rehydrated is a one to one remake of the game in a different engine. So none of his speed tricks work. To play it as a speed game he would need to learn everything from scratch as none of the skills you learn from one game transfer over to another. For this reason he hates it despite professing BFBB being his favorite game of all time.
This is him trying to speedrun it and getting tilted

Speedrunning isn't just autism anymore. It's fucking brain cancer. Why does any of this matter? Who is impressed by any of these "accomplishments"? Why has anyone ever financially supported this kind of person? I'll never understand it.

This guy's screeching is pretty funny for a couple minutes, I'll give you that. And he has a very punchable face.

He's like the BossmanJack of speedrunning. In fact speedrunning has a lot in common with gamba, dopamine-wise. Always chasing that brief high after hour after hour of disappointment. Except instead of crack all the speedrunners are on adderall.

Good OP, needs some of those Youtube vids archived (especially the clip channels, those can go down unexpectedly).

Years ago I used to watch his streams from time to time and he never used to look this miserable. He used to go through these cycles of being a generally entertaining guy to a complete raging sperg but these days I check in on his stream and he's looks either catatonic and hardly speaks or he's having a DSP level rant about trolls.
It's a shame because he does it to himself. The hours he puts in clearly makes him miserable but anyone who mentions that will get insulted and banned.

The psyche is kinda fascinating and horrifying at the same time. Already holds the record, has done for 8 years and doesn’t appear to have anyone chasing his tail. Still spends all this time trying to… what exactly? Improve the run time? And then if/when he does, he’s just gonna try and beat that time?
Genuinely insane. Gotta love it. Sometimes people only exist to be an example to others.

Ooh finally he has a thread. Good OP. I found LowTierSHiFT's rage videos and was pissing my pants watching this guy go from screeching rage to a growling whisper rage. I think /v/ got hip to him a little bit after too. This nigga could at least try running a different game like most runners do. I can't imagine trying full game runs for 8 years with Spongebobs voice in your ear.

What an absurd and seemingly random game to speedrun. I wonder why he chose it?
I think people just pick a game they like that isn't too hotly contested so they can actually learn and contribute to the run. If the ultra completive people who learned super mario 64 as their first speedgame decided to learn spongbob, shift would lose the record eventually. BFBB is still hard but its not as bad as games like halflife 1 or any mario game
I love hearing SpongeBob's voice and silly sound effects with him screaming and raging simultaneously. Art imitates life
spongebob "That was a ton of fun! I should do it again sometime"

shift "WHY WONT YOU WORK OH MY GODDDDDDDDDD AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Battle for Bikini Bottom is an excellent licensed game and it's a shame that its number one player is...this. Man built a whole speedrunning community, essentially got a remake and a sequel greenlit, and how he repays the community is through extreme vitriol and screaming into the void.

Read through that Google document and some of the stuff there is pretty based but it doesn't change the fact that seething this much over a video game and the people trying to help you out makes you undeniably a lolcow.

The shift hater-verse has a faggot problem. I pretty sure lowteirshift is a homosexual so that would explain why "transphobia" is listed as a negative.
I was going to include him getting banned from gdq. but i think thats more of a point against them. Banning the best runner of a popular speedgame because he got mad at trolls is fucking stupid and im on his side with that
