how speedrunning works is every game has specific glitches possible because of engine quarks, moves within the specific game and level geometry.
for instance, none of the glitches within og BFBB work in rehydrated. even though MOVIE is really the same game. the run doesn't incorporate any of the tricks or strats from BFBB.
its like this for every speed game, to learn how to speed run mario 64 would be like starting over from scratch as none of the skills you learn from one game translate from one to another,
there exists a sunk cost mentality for sure that discourages most of these runners from swapping, most of them only run a single same because of this.
why does he keep running the game? sub 40 is like SHiFTS white wale, hes said that the game wouldn't feel complete to just drop it now when sub 40 is so close, especially when its realistically possible.
to compare him to bossmanjack is apt. SHiFT said he runs this game primarily because it has an element of randomness with its tricks and glitches thats not present in mario 64 and sunshine, most of the time you see him raging its because something mostly out of his control just cost him a run, add on top of this most of the tricks are frame prefect in a game that runs at 60fps.

he hates movie because according to him the game isnt as interesting, the game is linear so the run cannot be as interesting or transformative, the order in which you get to 70 golden spatulas has drastically changed over the years, in movie you will always finish the same levels in the same order.
its also worth noting that most of the people that run that game are his former fans who he banned for being retards started playing movie to spite him.
