Due to the recent influx of new users, it's inevitable that we would get a lot of bad threads because people fail to "use the search function" or "lurk moar". The What If section suffers the most since we prided on its free-for-all discussions. To get to the point, I think we need stricter rules for this section and/or need to make existing rules a lot more apparent (e.g. make the fonts in the red box bigger, rename the Almanac to "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING").
Here's a guideline for the What-If section:
1. Lurk moar - That way, you have time to distinguish between good threads and bad threads.
2. Use the search function - It's likely that the question you have was already answered. We prefer it if you necro a thread (provided you have something interesting to say) than to make a redundant duplicate. If a mod notices a duplicate, they should merge it quickly before people make a big deal about it.
3. Refrain from making What-ifs that are gross (e.g. Chris's body functions, sexual fetishes, etc.). We don't need to know about your diaper fetish.
Example: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2022
4. Don't make spergy threads. Just don't. If you simply MUST sperg, use this thread: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2467
Example: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3285
5. Before you post a What-If, answer it with "He'd shit himself and do nothing" or "great thread". If those are the only worthwhile answers you're going to expect, don't post it or rather, post it in the Random What-If? Thread (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=753) or this one (viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2467)
6. If you seriously (and I mean seriously) feel that your What-If will provoke some interesting discussion/hypotheticals, then by all means post away. If you're just trying to be funny, again, the sperg thread is a great place to let out your inner sperg.
I apologise if this thread came across as redundant since most of these guidelines are already in the rules or are just common sense but I felt like they need to be stated again. I think the 5th advice would be very useful. Feel free to add more suggestions or delete/lock this if you so choose.
