I can relate, a well worn pair of shoes can feel so familiar and comfy that you want to keep using them no matter how obvious it is that you just need to move on. Go get some shoes, it'll feel so wrong for a week or two but before you know it they'll feel like a part of you.
My 8 year old nikes on the other hand are perfectly fine, sure they have zero tread, the insoles are completely loose and have gaint holes held together with a couple stands of string but they're still good.
