Stay true to your values, and if you really wish to change, educate yourself in the other side's argument to see if it would convince you, from an ideally neutral/non-biased approach.

Also, going "liberal" doesn't mean much, there's a lot of different liberals. Some liberals may even dislike other ones for being too much/too less of it.

Being a liberal can be hard with all the shit you are forced to tolerate out of the principle of democracy, and seeing how you're so willingly giving up on politics, 'cause its hard, I'm not sure if being a liberal would improve your situation. I would probably do some soul searching first.
