Pros of camping in the backyard with my dog:

- Dog is safe from bears
- Backyard already has fire pit and shade from old, 69+ foot tall trees.
- Paying the mortgage on my backyard is like I'm renting a campsite so why rent two?

Cons of camping in the backyard with my dog:

- A 40-Year-Old man is camping in the backyard with his dog.

You should go camping with your dog in the overwhelmingly beautiful vast expanses of wilderness that are by some miracle still allowed to exist on this fagged up doomed Blade Runner prequel of a planet and experience the environment your body and mind evolved for before you got tricked into this orthogonal fluorescent roach motel. Shoshone, the Grand Tetons and Yosemite are all incredible if you're white, but anywhere on the Great Divide is good.

Bears are big rodents, store your food right and make noise and they'll fuck off.
