Should statutory rape victims be forced to pay child support?

Lol no.

Is it not the whole thing that you make a collective decision and need to assume your part of responsibility the idea?

If I steal a used condom from a trash can, impregnate myself with it and get convicted for it, I don't see a situation where I could seek for some type of child support.

It would open the door to a whole new type of crime, all that for a situation that almost never happens and where the mom is clearly in the wrong.

Stop going through my trash, those are sausage casings!

Serious answer: No a statutory rape victim is a victim at the end of the day. Adding on child support is like forcing someone who was robbed to do community service.

No, though I imagine the law will need to be amended to make it more explicitly stated.

Firstly, I would assume that few rapists would have custody of the child, so they shouldn’t receive financial support anyway.

Secondly, if anyone’s due compensation financially then presumably it should be the victim.

I know there’ll be those who say that not having that financial support will affect the innocent child but that’s really something the parent should have considered. If there’s true poverty then the state will step in like they would with anyone else. It would be ridiculous for a rapist to get more financial support than a widow, for example.

There’s also the injustice to the victim - imagine having a huge financial commitment before you’re even 18 and because you were taken advantage of. That’s why kids can’t sign contracts.
