So what does that supreme court ruling actually mean in practice for trans people in Britain?

You know, the one JK Rowling hasn't shut the fuck up about (and probably won't until she dies of either old age or mould infection on the brain).

Can we finally call out trannies in and out of toilets now and in workplaces without being fired or sued? If I have a trannie colleague can I call him by male pronouns and his real male name now and a weirdo without having to worry about being complained about to HR because I can just show them the supreme court ruling (and JK Rowling's twitter feed that shows just how hated trannies are by society)?

probably not

Total Tranny Death has officially been canonized into the law of Great Britain. It is not only legal, but highly encouraged, to hunt trannies for sport and they are offered no legal protections if you decide to take them alive for your entertainment as long as you don't release them.

Just because their gender is fictional doesn't make the UK a different place. A constable is on the way right now to spank you for considering hurting someone's feelings. Stay where you are until they arrive.

But God help you if you release them back into the wild. You'll be hit with terrorism, animal cruelty, and creating a public nuisance charges. It's not what you want.

Basically all it means is regarding the primary provision of the Equality Act (An authority to which this section applies must, when making decisions of a strategic nature about how to exercise its functions, have due regard to the desirability of exercising them in a way that is designed to reduce the inequalities of outcome which result from socio-economic disadvantage.) is that exercise authorized functions to reduce the effects of disadvantages arising from Sex (2.1.11), i.e., from being female, DO NOT APPLY to males.

Trannies have their own section of the Equalty Act protecting Gender Reassignment (2.1.7), so, the triumphant celebration of being able to call a bloke a bloke is a bit premature. Whatever legislation trannies have currently been exploiting to usurp favorable treatment intended to benefit women over men under 2.1.11 protection may be simply amended to declare 2.1.7 protection also counts.

probably not
Definitely not. Trannies are still a protected class so in Britain still means you can't say things that hurt their feelings or decide not to hire them because they're dirty, weird sex pest that are a legal minefield. It's just that woman only spaces can (whoever runs it can still choose to include trannies) now get to be actually woman only spaces.
I'm not even sure this extends to public bathrooms, the prime example I keep hearing is that women didn't want creepy men in dresses in their domestic abuse and homeless shelters.
