Soda

I basically never drink soft drinks anymore, but I've been dabbling in brewing and fermenting the past couple months and found the official recipe for Nuka Cola in the Fallout cookbook to be quite nice and very easy to make. I've been making a fresh jar of cola syrup to mix with seltzer water twice a month since New Years with only slight modifications (2/3 or less of the sugar, maple syrup instead of browning sauce, some additional flavors like sarsaparilla). It's more soda than I've drank in years, and I probably oughta slow down to one jar every two months or so.

Tried both of the seasonal Baja Blast Mt Dew flavors. Point Break Punch is just kind of generically fruity, but Laguna Lemonade has a very strong (and to my taste enjoyable) mango flavor with a tart aftertaste for the lemonade part.

Pibb Xtra is my favorite Soda. I wish I could find Pibb Zero where I live but I can order a 12 pack that's probably expired online for 40 dollars.
I think I might've mentioned Pibb Xtra before favorably. I've never been a super-big fan of its inspiration Dr Pepper, it was literally designed as a graveyard-style drink that was made by screwing around with the flavors at a drugstore fountain.

While I don't like the typical "fruit" sodas (Fanta-style drinks and similar), I tend to prefer "simpler" drinks. Coca-Cola and Pibb Xtra are great, root beer and Dr Pepper feel like they're overcomplicated.

It's the same way the best sandwiches are fairly simple ones and not overbuilt clubs.

This really helps my fucked up stomach:

It's spicy and might not be everyone's cup of tea. But there are other flavors. It actually tastes exactly like the ingredients. It's 18% juice and doesn't seem to have any added sweetener. The can says "slightly sweet" but I wouldn't even call it slightly. It's more like a fizzy ginger lemon herbal tea. The ginger lemon with turmeric is the one that sells out the fastest at the supermarket. I don't know if that's because people are using it as a natural stomach remedy or if it's just the flavor. The berry one is nice too.

I drink A LOT of soda, and never understood when people would say "I can't drink soda, it's way too sweet".

Anyway, I stopped drinking it for like a week when I had COVID and decided to keep going, so I haven't had any for like a month and change. No sports drinks or anything either, it's all been flat water. I had a sip of Seagram's ginger ale tonight and it was almost fucking undrinkable because I found it so sweet, it was like a liquid pixy stick. Crazy how you can build up tolerance to the stuff.

Root beer is all I need to get through a hard day. But cream soda, orange cream, and grape are also acceptable. I don't really drink stuff like coke and dr pepper anymore.

I'm a cola enjoyer for sure. I have to limit myself or I can drink way too much of my daily calories in one go (honestly, any is too much).
Im a big pepsi fan, with coke and shasta being close 2nds. I can't do diet, I think they taste awful and dont satisfy any sweet cravings at all.

that said I have also been a fan of these as they are only 5 calories with an acceptable amount of caffeine (70mg) as a coffee/energy drink alternative. They actually taste good too, but this is my favorite flavor I think.

I haven't found any zero-sugar MTN Dew Purple Thunder at Kroger-owned stores despite them supposedly coming to stores this month, I guess I'll have to expand my search to other Kroger-owned supermarkets if I want a taste of it.

Coca-Cola also released a new Sprite flavor called Sprite Chill that seems to be following the same treatment Spiced got. It's a mix of Sprite, cherry, and lime flavors. I picked up a 12-pack of the zero-sugar version and it's really good. Oh, and despite the pic it's also available in 20 oz. bottles

Dr. Pepper is also releasing a coconut-cream version of their soda. I'm not a big fan of coconut so I'll be skipping out on this.

monster ultra gold is so good, honestly. the pinapple juice flavor is so spot on and it doesn't have the aftertaste the white ones do.
I kicked my kidney stone juice habit for tea years ago, but I'll treat myself to one of these every once in a while. God damn they're fucking good. Mix one with some vodka to attain enlightenment. Or heart palpitations.

What TikTok tard alerted people to the existence of cherry blossom La Croix? For the past couple of years no one seemed to be buying it around here but me so I bought as much as I wanted until I was sick of it and bought other flavors. This year I got one case. I guess I can live with the cherry lime Polar.

Any kiwifags tried pic related? I'm so intrigued but the only option for me to try it is to pay out the ass on Amazon to get it delivered. I'm curious if the caffeine content is enough to give you a buzz or not.

A bit of an oddity. Kofola. It's a Czech soda that contrary to what everyone believes when they see the bottle, it's not like cola at all. It's a completely different taste, much more herbal, and it's like black licorice or Marmite, you either love it or hate it. Personally, I got hooked on it despite it's availability being somewhat limited since it has to be imported at the west-southern border and then your best bet is to order it online, especially if you want to get the cherry variant.

It's much less sugary than Coca-Cola, with the cherry variant having as little at 5.6g/100ml of sugar. Once I go on a binge of Kofola, my taste buds get desensitized to Coca-Cola and when I go back to it, it's way more intense. Though I really should drop soda altogether and switch to tea or milk for my "something to drink in large proportions that isn't water" drink, or just switch to water.

I don't drink soda that much but I bought a few bottles of Kofola when I was in the Czech Republic for the novelty. The original was a nice mix of cola and caramel but the lemon and watermelon variants weren't that good, the fruits don't blend well and feel too strong in the taste.
