Sony hate thread

The line up for the new service is fairly meh.

A lot of the stuff was already on PSNow and everything else that might interest me is stuff I already played anyway.

It'd be amazing for someone who is fairly new to playstation though.

@Basic Blonde Boy

Those are just the PS2 classics already on PS4, the new PS2 stuff is coming latter after the PS1 and PSP line up but is still due for sometime this year. I just wonder if they have patched those games as they didn't run as good as they should on ps4 and some games like Ape Escape 2 has lots of graphical glitches on PS5.

Like I said not the full line up, so will be way more PS3 however they are streaming only rather than downloadable emulation as they are still streaming from PS3 hardware . Pretty sure both LBP2 and PS All-Stars were on PS Now, so wouldn't be shocked to see them again.

Sony is currently undergoing a civil war over abortion apparently. 510256E8-2D03-4454-8E4E-9D235FE9339F.jpeg

wouldn't be shocked if the ps3 hd remasters are streaming, pretty sure it was like that on ps now. then again could wait until they start adding ps2 games

Pretty sure anything that anything originally released for ps3 that's on the new service will indeed be using the same streaming as PSNow.

I had mixed results with it on a 1gb fibre connection with about 5-6ms latency but that was years ago. Some stuff was perfect but other stuff went to shit if literally anything else happened on your network.

Even still, how is Ratchet, a premier PS5 franchise, not have the first games on the service by now?
I don't see Tools of Destruction on there either.

What I'm confused on is the game streaming aspect. Will all these titles be able to be streamed like with XGP?

Also, what is the point of streaming PS1 games when you could likely emulate them with ease?

Streaming means that they can offer the service on more platforms than just the PS4/5.

Emulation is tedious, can’t be done on a normal PS5, and can involve piracy which makes it bad.

If you disagree with all those reasons, then congratulations, you’re more tech-savvy than the average consumer. Most people will only consider seriously getting into retro games if they’re presented in a manner that is easy to pick up and play without any configuration, compatible with a current system that the person already owns, and is explicitly official without needing to move files around and dig through obscure sites in some bumfuck corner of the Internet.

PS1 games are native on PS4/5 but can be streamed if you want to pc/phones if you buy the upper tier of sony. Just PS3 for now that are streaming only

If they expand their streaming options behind PS1/PS3, then I may jump in. It would be a good excuse to replay Ratchet and Clank.

You put it better than I ever could have.
What's Insomniac made recently? Let's see...

Oh, mostly capeshit. That makes sense.
Probably being lobbied by the film studios, or something, then.
That said, politics doesn't belong in game dev.

You're right but I'm glad I bought a PSClassic to pirate and play PS1 roms.
