Sony hate thread

No, Last of Us Factions is separate it's not tied to TLOU2. It was originally but now it's it's own game. Think of it like how Final Fantasy Comrades was made, it was part of 15 but then split off to it's own thing.

Even the own article states there isn't a release date and the most we seen is alpha footage from the leaks two years ago. 3 years from now there's going to be a quiet cancellation like all of the other sony products.

Yes pirated copies existed as a no-cost entry point for stuff for a long time. But I think a couple decades down the road that's not going to be the most viable option.
Just about everything in romsets for 8-bit computers are cracked versions of the games, due to the vast swath of antipiracy measures that wouldn't age well. Nobody wants to deal with scans of a code wheel when they just want to play some ancient Commodore 64 game. Piracy is the only long-term solution to archiving games long-term.

I'm not really sure if there wouldn't be people who wouldn't want to deal with anti-piracy measures. One of the things with Primal Rage being a tough game to get around and emulate properly was not the anti-piracy measures in total. It was that not enough people wanted to work on doing something like that, but other games had similar anti-piracy measures but since they were more popular you had more bodies to throw at a project like that.

The one solution would be for companies to give some form of legality to the romsets. So they're not at risk for being taken down or needing to be relocated. They can just exist in a singular place.

Microsoft tried to do this with Xbox but since their store needed to act as a host they needed to obtain legal rights to the software so it could be hosted. So that's why they were unable to do all their old games. But at the same time Microsoft does have an array of anti-piracy methods to crackdown on both PC and console fronts.

In a way you're kind of fighting the creators from destroying their own works. I mean an ideal start of a solution would be something like a roundtable discussion between all 3 of the major console manufacturers about software preservation. Because no real lasting legal solution is just going to arise from trying to hide stuff from a legal department.

Hell you still have books being reprinted that have existed for centuries in an official way, games should have something similar.

Oh, and fuck you Snoy. How's it feel to lose another one of your big games (even if it only appeals to weebs)?
They didn't really lose if the game sold millions already on their platform. It's the highest selling Atlus game ever.

It going to Xbox destroys every culture wars narrative about Sony. It doesn't make sense to be angry about the situation.

No physical copies for Xbox, but apparently Persona 5 R is going to be a full priced release and may be on the microsoft store only since they're not saying Steam.

Physical games are only for autistics who want to collect worthless pieces of plastic or want to trade stuff in at gamestop for $2 once they are done with it.

No one will buy any of these Persona games on Xbox at full price because they are coming to Gamepass and if you haven't pre-loaded 3 years of that for fuck all you are literally a retard.

You're forgetting who Sega kneels to

I was waiting for a Series X to come in Starfield or Elder Scrolls themed colors or decals. I wasn't really going to buy a subscription to a system I don't have yet.

Ah, so you're the target audience for consoomer special editions of consoles.

Just buy the cheapest version of the thing if it has games that you want on it rather than waiting for the version that has a bunch of shitty stickers or "exclusive" tatty plastic shit glued to it.

There's really no xbox games I want outside of older ones currently. Really just Starfield or Elder Scrolls are their first party offerings that I want. I also liked stuff from Blizzard and Rare in the past, but Microsoft's managing of their studios doesn't seem to translate to a shitload of games.

So being that I have played every Bethesda ES title they've made, I was figuring once the series X was plentiful that Starfield or ES6 would be out and I'd get it then since I've never gotten a special edition console before.

Especially digital shit. How ironic these game companies don't want piracy and yet the shoot themselves in the foot constantly when they release digital-only games that are no longer available once the servers they are on shut down.

Well Mr. Video Game Company, how the fuck else are we supposed to play these titles, you dumb fuck!

Honestly if Game Journalists were Real and not a bunch of Satellite Marketers they would ask this question.

We've already had instances where company servers went bust and people could not access their digital games.

If we got half the amount of pandering to preservation than Ukraine got we would be in a better place.

Even Microsoft isn't stupid enough to actually think people would buy these games on the Windows store, they will end up on Steam.
Looks like the PS4 lost another exclusive, Persona 5 Royal

Lol Sony faggots have been taking nothing but constant L's this year

We'll have to wait and see, because there hasn't been any mention of steam. They mention Windows and there isn't anything up that has mentioned a Steam release.

But since it's on game pass and they're really seem to be promoting it that way, it may be a limited time thing to start on the windows store and then go to Steam or Epic.

It will 100% be on Steam. If it wasn't they wouldn't say Windows PC, it would just say gamepass for PC if it was only there. Although I guess there's a possibility Sweeney decides to try to make it EGS exclusive, but I would think Epic would have realized the loophole in their exclusivity contracts where games were "EGS exclusive" but also playable on the Xbox app. I don't think they've even put any new games on the Windows store in a while, at least since the Xbox/GP app was put out.

Neir Automata had that exclusive windows store update

I think they also just got the new free Ark update as well. it may just be me but the Windows PC logo seems rarely used for most of microsoft's advertisements.

The update to steam came later from the windows store version. The steam update was also different from the one that windows store got IIRC.

Yeah, this did happen but was a rare instance. This might happen with P4G because someone said localization changes are happening, so a different version from the current Steam release, but P3P and P5R shouldn't have funky issues like Nier since this will be their first release on PC. IRC Nier: Automata was released on Steam before the Windows Store/PC Game Pass edition came out.

P5R needs actual controller layout changes because the dualshock has a gyro while none of the xbox controllers do.

P3P is supposedly having achievements tied to them so it's safe to say all 3 are going to need changes.

Atlus don't really release too many games on Steam compared to the other platforms they're more well known for, but just like with Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 strikers and the Shin Megami Tensei III Remaster, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't, it's another avenue for them to make money with a FAR FAR larger market of customers on Steam compared to the Microsoft store.
