Back in 2014, stores gave away free copies of Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and The Last of Us Remastered with new PS4s

9 years later they're forcing you to buy this woke garbage if you want a PS5

It's only going to get worse

The problem with the "under powered" argument is this, I feel like graphics are reaching this point where its hard to notice too much of a jump between generations. I can see a leap between the PSX to 2, then 3 then 4 but I really cant see much of one towards 5. Now, yes, you can maybe see an "improvement" but its nothing that blows me away and screams "technical leap". You can mention things like RTX but I honestly think thats something blown way out of proportion, at least for the time being. Its something games can still look very much great without (and not be a fucking hog on your machine).

The Switch is catching up on that technical level where is difficult to improve much on it and Nintendo was never too much into being a graphical powerhouse anyway, prefering to go with more stylized designs that allow them to adapt to their "lesser" graphics.

As graphics are going to start mattering less and less, actual creativity and game quality is what going to freaking matter more than ever.
 
So I decided to bite the bullet and bought an SSD for my PS3 because I actually like using it to store movies and shows I've downloaded. One major problem I encountered is that the system software reinstallation file on Sony's official website just doesn't work as the PS3 would just say "data is corrupted" every time I tired to install it. Luckily the file on psxhax actually works. I just find it so stupid that the offcial way provided by Sony is completely broken. I realize the PS3 is an old system but they just put out a new system update a few days ago.

RPGs have you build a character from the ground up, while JRPGs have you use stock characters with very little customization. Wait, since when was JRPG a pejorative? If anything it came about when the genre was at its peak and WRPGs (which isa term people use regularly despite what the faggot author says) were at a nadir with the big computer studios all closing down or in the midst of very long dev cycles (plus MMO bullshit taking good devs away.)

That's quite odd. I was able to run the latest PS3 firmware on RCPS3 without any issues. Wonder why it failed on the actual hardware using the correct methods.

Yeah and that shit actively colored JRPG perception for a few years. Like trying to convince someone to give Disgaea a try.

I'm glad Tarks remembers, honestly i dont remember that much as it's so long ago, but I do remember the Saki joke. It was very grating at the time.

I dont know about the archives surviving, but if you ever read any x-play review article (which some iirc were verbatim what was scripted on the show) they were always (at least from what I saw) written by a backroom writer. Like in the reboot when Frosk openly said this. Adam was never a gamer, he was an actor. A bad one. That's why the show was able to carry on with Morgan. She at least had charisma.

I guess you got a lot of disagrees because everyone else forgot just how many coomerbait garbage JRPGs were pushed front and center on the PlayStation storefronts back then, many of which were from Idea Factory and NIS. There were so many, they just ran together, and how can you remember games like:

and all the other countless anime games with names and box art so generic, they seem like AI came up with them. Yeah, no wonder I thought the genre was just completely dead until Yakuza: Like a Dragon reminded me that JRPGs can be incredible if done right.

My favorite was Eternal Sonata for Xbox. The one where they turned Mozart into a loli. Totally not going to disrespect Japan here, gais...

Also, if Japanese developers want to be more respected then maybe they shouldn't give stuff ridiculous sounding Engrish names or make puns that only work if L and R sound the same- a trait those two letters share in Japan but literally nowhere else on earth (and since the physics of soundwaves don't change based on political geography its really just them being retards.) Remember the days of all western games being kuso? Respect goes two ways, guys.

edit: 2012 was also the culmination of an absolutely horrid time for the Japanese game industry where the number of international publishers got literally cut in half due to market driven mergers and bankruptcies. (Namco merged with Bandai, Koei with Tecmo, Square with Enix then brought Taito, Spike merged with Chunsoft, Konami brought bankrupt Hudson's assets and then shut it down two years later, SNK went bankrupt, Data East went bankrupt, Asmik left games and Kemco went mobile-only.) Like I said, it was a terrible time to be a fan of Japanese games.

It's also a handheld that costs $199. People have weird expectations for what a couple hundred bucks and a design targeted at long battery life will get you.
 
I got a PS4 Pro so I can transfer my PS4 data to it. Sadly the transfer didnt work as I kept getting a connection interruption every time. I was using a LAN cable too, so I dont understand why it doesnt work. I guess I'll have to return it and stick with my current PS4.

I'm still not getting a PS5.
 
Welp, I finally get back from overseas only to discover the HDMI port on my PS4 has died. Fucking pathetic, I've had this 7 years. Considering my fucking PS1 still works and I've had that since 99, this is bullshit. And I just had a shipment of games from VGPlus arrive right before I got back. God fucking dammit.

Edit - it took 3 different HDMI cords, but it's working. My WiiU cord seems to be doing the job just fine. Nintendo proves it's better than Sony again.

I've used HDMI chords for the PS1, PS2 and PS3 and they still work. It's nice that Even the HDMI cables work better with Gamecube and both Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. It's a good thing I've never own a PS4 or a PS5, because fuck Sony.
