They planning on like having 12 GAAS games that are currently in development or some shit.
Couldn't even muster up one example. Sony is fucked. :story:

EDIT: LMAO
Sony took such a long-ass time prepping, trying to break into that supposed mythical Asian market that Marissa Moira loves talking about, that right as they're about the start offering this service over there: Microsoft decided to swoop in and eat their lunch. Right in the middle of Sony's announcement of a complete embarrassment of a Game Pass alternative.

Jesus Christ those dollar conversions are insane. TL;DR: Anyone doing this trick...
Another factor is that there is no cheap way to pay for any PS subscription service.

With Xbox you just buy up to 3 years of prepaid Live Gold cards from a cheaper region than yours and redeem them on your account. You can then do the gamepass trick of paying an extra buck to convert those 3 years of Live Gold to 3 years of Gamepass Ultimate.
..is somehow going to be making even MORE of a killing than they were before. Literal pennies on the dollar can get you an entire service for years if you play your cards right, especially in the Phillipines.

What a fucking power move.

Sony is emulating Nintendo's shitty practice of locking old games behind a terrible online subscription that you have to pay for, and goes away when you stop paying it. Thanks, Sony, very cool.

Sony already is in those markets, they even have development studios in countries like Malaysia, there's no breaking in needed.

How the program looks currently is to have current subscribers spend more on digital services by upgrading their base membership. Their GAAS shit outside of GT7 is relatively unknown. Both Sony and Microsoft's programs will change in the future because both have said it's not going to replace spending on actual games. So eventually it's going to get to the point where there's a GAAS Ghetto where Genshin Impact will live.

It makes sense to put old games on a sub, I don't think most people would be willing to pay the kind of prices these company are asking for 20+ year old games. Putting them on a separate tier is retarded so lmao good job.

Then you look at retards on twitter and resetera who will suck Sonys dick no matter what and it makes sense. That old as fuck article from 2010 or whatever still holds true, consolewarriors are ignorant retards but Sony has the borderline monopoly on consolewarriors who are the most retarded, defensive, and tasteless.
Sony has always had the most insufferable fans. Say what you will about fanboys of other platforms, but at least they have some level of self-awareness; PC fans know a good gaming PC is expensive and requires constant tweaking to make sure everything works right, Nintendo fans know the Switch is so weak that even first party games barely run on it, and Xbox fans know the concept of an “Xbox exclusive” is long dead. Sony fans, on the other hand, have zero self-awareness. They’ll eat up anything Sony puts out to the point that non-Playstation games and systems may as well not exist (which is ironic given that so much of Sony’s marketing revolves around shitting on everyone else), and they argue that multiplatform games like [current FIFA] and [current Call of Duty] are system sellers.

They’ll constantly change their opinion to defend their brand. Motion controls are dumb and touch screens are gay until Sony starts making them, then they’re the coolest innovations in gaming. The Xbox One is bad because it’s giant like a VCR and giant consoles are bad, then the PS5 is revealed to be even larger and size suddenly doesn’t matter. Sony dropping out of E3 to do their own show is the first sign that E3 might be losing relevancy, even though Nintendo did the exact same thing half a decade earlier. Console wars and exclusives are serious business until Sony starts lagging behind and all but stops making actual (one system) exclusives, then they’re a thing of the past that only kids argue about.

As a kid, I wanted Nintendo to “win”. As an adult, I just want Sony to lose.

This could be applied to literally any fan group across the board. Switch the names out and it's still accurate 3 ways.

damn, how gay can you make your Vroom Vroom Racer Autism Sim that Fucked-Up Face Guy has a better user score? lmao

ps4 I can't even remember what exclusives it had close to launch, the only "worthwhile" exclusive that comes to mind is bloodborne and that was nearly a year and a half after launch.
I remember getting a PS4 for Little Big Planet 3, so that was a big launch title. Unfortunately, the game sucked. It was plagued with glitches and just lacked the LBP charm as it was handled by a different studio.

I have to blame Sony for fucking that game up. Sumo Digital is a smaller studio, but they produce high quality shit. Just look at SEGA All-Stars Racing or Snake Pass. Hell, even the new Sackboy game they developed is a genuine masterpiece, they were a studio fully capable of handling bigger projects, but Sony rushed them and screwed the game in the process.
And going "NO THIS TIME I MEAN IT IT REALLY REALLY REALLY HAS NO GAMES". Bullshit, what always happens is nostalgia fags can't be sated so once enough time has gone by they look at everything with rose tinted glasses. The PS5 has gotten way more quality and quantity much quicker than the PS3 and PS4 did. Give it enough time and they'll look back on the PS5 launch in much the same way the PS3 is currently idolized and they'll be squeezing their nostalgia boners going " AH GAWD HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED THAT? THATS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW!"
Dude, the PS3 is idolized because Sony ate shit at the start then proceeded to climb out the ashes throughout the generation. They created so many good titles throughout the PS3 life-span, most of which have grown their own niches. LBP, Uncharted, and God of War (yes I know it was on PS2, but it hit mega popularity on 3) were mega franchises built by the system that are still getting games today, which didn’t really happen with Sony franchises prior. Ratchet & Clank was the one exception, and it was the PS3 that set that franchise down the path that lead to its biggest title on PS5.

Barring those, 3 had so many more risk titles. PS All-Stars, for as much as we mock it, was a nice love letter to Sony that I wish they didn’t fuck over come the PS4. Same goes for other late titles like Twisted Metal 2012, which should have been ported to PS4 for a more active online base, yet they let it rot in hell and left fans in a weird spot now. One could also add Sly 4 to the list of nice surprises fucked over by the PS4.

In saying this, I do agree. PS5 is definitely gearing up quicker to have those titles that the PS3 is loved for. I think this console has the potential to be that loser Sony of the PS3 and actually make it a gem of a system in a way that the PS4 always felt lacking, but that is just me.

Man, the PS5 has been out for a year and a half, and- oh, you know what? Here's a fun game: How many PS5 games can you name that aren't also on PS4? List 'em right now, no searching elsewhere!

  • Demon's Souls remaster
  • Deathloop (also on PC)
  • there was also a piece of FFVII Remake DLC if you wanna count that (also on PC via Epic)
Astro and Ratchet & Clank are genuinely great titles if you like 3D Platformers. I bought a PS5 for Ratchet due to PS3 nostalgia I suppose since I hadn’t played an entry since a Crack In Time, and was not disappointed. I also bought Sackboy a Big Adventure as LBP was the second Sony franchise I grew up with. While it is also on PS4, PS5 is clearly what it was built for and again, genuine fantastic title, it felt like a non-generic Super Mario 3D World. The game is super easy, but it has a lot of heart and the ideas really come together in having a crafted world. It basically outdid Nintendo in 3D World gameplay and Yoshi’s Crafted World aesthetic/theming.

Destruction All-Stars is yet to come up for exclusives. It is a great title, but it has the Nick All-Stars Brawl problem of being half a game. The base gameplay and characters personalities are fantastic, but the battle mode with 3 courses seems to be all there is. It feels like a prototype to a much better game down the line, likely Twisted Metal PS5, but is not a bad purchase if you find it cheap.

The service will not include new releases, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan told Reuters, but users can still find big-budget titles such as “Returnal” and “God of War”.

“There will be more from PlayStation Studios, and all of the major publishers will be represented,” Ryan said.

Sony is widely seen as leading in the console war, selling 17 million PlayStation 5 (PS5) units even as chip shortages hit production, but has been under pressure to respond to the growth of Netflix-style game subscription services.
There are three tiers, priced at $9.99 to $17.99 monthly or $59.99 to $119.99 annually. The lowest-price tier, PlayStation Plus Essential, looks like Sony’s current offering.

PlayStation Plus Extra adds a catalog of PS4 and PS5 games. PlayStation Plus Premium offers a further library of older titles, cloud streaming in major markets and time-limited game trials.
I forgot that they used to do this.

It was so different when the PS4 came out and they came out with these PS Plus Extra coupons, yet now with the PS5, it just seems like they’re being forced to do this.

So the new subscription thing is a three tiered offering.

First tier is bog standard monthly free games, next one is monthly free games and PS Now and the top tier is monthly free games plus streaming some PS3 games, PS Now and some downloadable ps1, ps2 and PSP games along with free trials of some new games.

Gamepass it ain't.
Worse than Game Pass. Unless PS+ NOW is getting cheaper, Sony will have a hard time to compete with Game Pass. I understand streaming PS3 games because of how hard to develop the PS3 was, but no first party titles at launch?

The only way I'm paying for this shit is if they somehow pull off a literal miracle and resurrect SOCOM II with full online play.

Otherwise, as I said in the Xbox thread, any attempt at trying to kill off physical media and create a "Netflix of games" can suck my jaded 34 year old boomer cock.

The only real advantage of PS Plus Premimum is the possibilty of being able to finally play bloodborne and Persona 5/R on PC after people have been asking for years if theyll ever come. However it is very dependent on whether or not the PS servers would actually be good enough to handle people across the globe trying to stream games especially now when servers are pretty hard to come by

Hunt Down The Freeman is certified kino. I still laugh about the fact that the guy who made it somehow actually got a legit job working at Activision. They should put him in charge of writing the next Call Of Duty. If you can't have a good story at least have one that's hilariously bad.

I don't like his recent content but Yahtzee recently aired similar feelings that I've had for a while:

Bad games are better than mediocre ones.

Bad games are normally the product of misplaced passion and effort combined with financial backing from retards that don't know jackshit about videogames or a specific genre and that result in absolutely broken trainwrecks that are just hillarious to point and laugh at.

Meanwhile mediocre games are the result of corporate greed taken to its' logical conclussion by running a risk assesment on big projects and surgically sanitizing everything while trying to maximize profits.

I mean yeah, Hunt Down the Freeman reads like edgy fanfiction, Fallout the Frontier is a fetish buffet where everyone is afraid of taxes and Duke Nukem Forever is an incomprehensive mess with conflicting mechanics, gameplay and set pieces carried over and changed by different people on a stupidly long supply chain. But all of those are the result of misplaced effort with questionable talent at the helm and are still fun to look at, not so much play them but by god you can talk and make fun of them for days or even years.

On the other hand take Battlefield V, Far Cry 6 or Agents of Mayhem. They look pretty, have a lot of budget and talent poured into them but ultimately they're forgettable and easily replaceable with anything else on the market because they're the end result of corporate calling all the shots rather than idiots, which makes for a very bland and streamlined experience.

As such I think GT7 deserves a lower score than "Edgy scarface goes on a rampage against aliens to find orange crowbar nerd", since at least the latter makes for entertaining derivative content, rather than just printing money for executives.

I'm not sure if this is legit but i found this floating around. I don't think people will pay 60 bucks every 3 months.

$20/month sounds like a realistic price for the top tier. Some intern is getting fired if this is real, because somebody fucked up and listed streaming and discounts twice as benefits.

All my exposure to streaming games (outside LAN remote play) has been so shitty that I do not grasp people entertaining streaming services as a viable way to play games. I understand some people have very low standards, but surely for the overwhelming majority of people who like video games, playing them with heaps of input lag and shite bitrate streaming video is worse than not playing them at all, right?

Even with the lowest latency possible and reasonable bandwidth, game streaming over the internet at acceptable quality is not there yet with current technology, as far as I have witnessed and as far as I have heard from anyone else.
