just buy a second hand one, the sticks are easy to replace if you aren't retarded. You can buy replacement sticks on amazon or any chinese marketplace for a few bucks. Also if you are just going to use the TV only then just get a pro controller. Joycons are shit controllers.
Second hand ones are still ~250ish dollarydoos and if i have to factor in a pro controller and two games i'm still somewhere around 400€, which i'm not willing to part with right now. 200 yurodollars new would be the pricepoint i'd start thinking about getting one.

The main question you should ask yourself is: do you plan on making the Switch your main gaming system ? With many games of your liking, either exclusive & multiplat/port ?
300 euros is not expensive if you end up investing a lot of playtime hours on it or, assuming money is truly a personal issue, you can consider finding an early Switch v1 model that is hackable. Since you stated you'll be playing on TV mode mostly, the lower battery life of the v1 shouldn't be an inconvenience.

the ps5 is showing up now in shops on a regular basis.
the downside?

Do this. I got my switch second hand back in 2018 and hacked it as soon as the first CFW became available. I still buy games that I actually like physically (mainly to save SD card space). You won't be able to play online and will most likely get banned, but who cares about that? Its super easy to hack them (as long as you can actually find an unpatched model). The extra battery with the revision is barely there, I think the only thing the revisions have is that if you can hack them (you need mod chips or something) you are able to overclock higher, but overclocking can damage the system so I don't do it beyond a slight overclock in some games to clean up FPS stutters.

The extra battery with the revision is barely there,
It was definitely noticeable in a everyday use as a handheld with the v2 revision, and even more so with the OLED model where you can set >50-100% screen brightness value without murdering the battery life in return, making it rather good for playing outdoors. But it doesn't make a difference otherwise if @The Feline Solution sees zero purpose in playing portable.

Likewise for the Switch online. Personally, I mainly play with japanese players in EDF titles (more recently EDF 4.1) and Resident Evil 5 & 6 on Switch had several on-going lobbies as well a few months back. Again, it depends of one's priorities so he may not miss out the online features much.
At least hacking makes it possible to back up the save data directly on the PC instead of relying on Nintendo's cloud.

I appreciate the Switch information provided but i am just playing with the idea of getting one, i am not in a hurry to buy one or anything. I switched back over to PC two years ago, mainly for the uncomplicated piracy, and plan on staying there for my main gaming. The Switch would just be a nice toy to have, there are more than a couple of titles that i am interested in plus i could game while laying in bed again, like the lazy sack of shit i am.

With how fast Yuzu and Ryujin are improving i probably won't have to buy one at all to play the games i'm interested in, i already played the Mario Golf game which did run flawlessly, apart from one annoying but easily fixable glitch, in a build from last year.

Confession: I had managed to snag a PS5 disc version online at MSRP, as I had a bit of a bonus come through for me. I got it directly from Sony and I wanted to play Wipeout: Omega edition on something that wasn't going to be aged and obnoxiously loud now. Not a snoy fan still.

First overall impressions: Fucker is huge. Like you can beat someone to death and it will probably still work huge. I had to take out a compartment out of my entertainment stand just to fit it in there. Outside of that though, it's been fairly smooth sailing, with most PS4 games defaulting to 60 fps and super sampling.

Fucker still has no games though.

The new PS5 beta update changed the media gallery menus so the first action when you select a group of images is "Upload to PlayStation App" instead of delete. It's annoying and fucks up my muscle memory. Who uses that shit feature? Best I can gather it's so you can easily get screenshots onto your phone if you have no computer.

Actually it was copy to USB not delete. I misremembered and posted while away from it. I always copy to a flash drive and then delete and it fucked that up.

I heard the latest nintendo direct was a disaster. This would be an excellent opportunity for sony to announce A Game, as in a real game and not an interactive chatterbox walking simulator in the woods.

Typical faffing article, with a new point about cloud gaming. I guess it's Microsoft’s fault that Sony, Google (lol) and Amazon barely attempted to utilize Cloud gaming. Even funnier as Sony has access to Azure, so it's not even about not having the infrastructure to compete. They just don't want to.

"Harming players" my ass. Let's see... Blah blah, blah blah blah, nothing really new or interesting to talk abou-

The CMA, through a market research company, survey polled a random sample of 40,000 PlayStation CoD gamers—defined for the purposes of the survey as those who played at least 10 hours or spent at least $100 on the game between July 2021 and June 2022—to get a sense of how important this game franchise is to them, and what they might do if it became partially or totally exclusive to Xbox after the Merger.

Son of a bitch, I knew it! Nice try, Jim Ryan. No mention of the proposed decade deal Sony was offered with complete parity, I guess that isn't important enough as even a footnote. Hmm.

anyone who thinks MS won't fuck with sony once they own cod is delusional, where does this fucking "good guy microsoft" narrative even come from?

Went to a few vidya stores today looking for a copy of that Magic British Troon Genocide game. I find it rather telling that the last store I went to had exactly one copy of Hogwarts Legacy left in stock, while the YASS KWEEN SLAY simulator Forspoken was overstocked everywhere :story:
