Sony hate thread

Some of those shows are really good. Avatar:TLA and Justice League/Unlimited have more nuance, character development, interesting stories, and likeable protagonists than a lot of modern shows, despite being targeted towards kids. Really hope the new Avatar game is great.
But what about early Ben 10?

In an interview, Gran Turismo director Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that during the first game's development, the internal dev name for the game was "Sim Racing". Maybe it turned out to be a blessing that Kaz chose to name the game Gran Turismo instead, since GT7's terrible AI would make the game even more of a laughing stock, had it actually been called Sim Racing 7.
If that was the 90s they're may have also been a chance Maxis would've gotten pissy considering all the sims games they made back then.

My one friend is buying a PS5 in the next few months just for Ratchet and Clank.

I think it's dumb, but not as dumb as propping up Astro's Playroom.
Astro is pretty good, but do keep in mind that it is a free tech demo that comes with the 5. A fair amount of depth for a pack-in title and worth a try if you own one, but not exactly a system seller. Just a cute platformer that is probably the last time PlayStation will showcase their history past PS4.

They will absolutely never build a PC, sadly.

They're a late millenial so they only know how to use a phone and are scared of PC's.
Someone will probably get it working on the Steam Deck, if buying a prebuilt PC is too scary for them, there is a sale on Decks until the 13th. I just don't understand console users, paying so much for so little, and even paying extra to actually use the internet they already pay for.

I floated the idea of the Steam Deck to him and he got mad cause it couldn't play some raft game, which is like the only PC game he's interested in.

I dunno, he's a fun dude but he's *really* entrenched in consoles and the retro collecting "scene", to give you an idea of where his mind is when it comes to game.

It's got Gold and everyone says it runs perfectly, assuming its this game. I've yet to actually run into any compatibility issues with my Deck, just check ProtonDB and if the game needs tweaking, people usually outline the steps for you, if you are a retarded console user.

I know a guy just like him from the sounds of it, he runs a retro game store and has the same weird perception of PC gaming despite owning a high end PC. Also a Millennial

Looking in my house at old games PS4 games, I'm pretty amazed how much there were, while I barely bought anything for the PS5. Though to be fair, COVID fucked up gaming timeline immensely and there is a years long drought in releases for anything but Indies.

How the hell can you be into retro collecting after COVID? All of the prices skyrocketed and it’s a total bear market as they stay high but are slowly dropping. I have a whole series of disorganized rants about game collecting in my head I’m gonna post on a day when I’m furious enough.

PS4 did have a big number of games with physical releases that wouldn’t have gotten them in the 7th gen. Even retail ones, not just Limited Run trash.

PS4 also was lacking in good exclusives, it's only compared to PS5 that the system looks good, and much of that is because it's still cucking PS5. Even PS3 had more, and I obviously don't need to mention PS1 & PS2.

I admit it's probably a worse looking list to me just because PS4 doesn't have a lot of the kinds of games I like. Uncharted, TLOU, new gay GoW, Horizon, capeshit, etc. People into that stuff obviously look at the PS4 in a much better light than me.

He has hoarding tendencies and I believe he just likes being part of the "community".

I've told him that they're just going to degrade and end up being worthless. He doesn't care cause "that will take forever". I told him he could just pirate, he doesn't care because he doesn't even play the vast majority of them and simply likes them because they're "physical".

In fact, he gets pissed off because I don't collect games and actively sold off my entire collection 3 years ago because the prices were just too good to pass up. He thinks it's "disgusting" because I have such a wider knowledge of retro games than he does (both from actually playing games and actually being involved before it became "cool" however many years ago). He doesn't understand how I find my autistic knowledge of all this shit shameful.

He's a fun dude to hang with when it comes to other stuff, but honestly he's the most annoying "gamer" I know in real life simply because he has spent thousands on his collection and still comes off as a complete poser. There's no love or planning with his collection, he just buys whatever shit he stumbles across because it's old or niche. Basically a gaming hipster.

It's a classic consoomer's community, just like so many fandoms. Your quality as a human being is judged by your collection, in both size and rarest pieces. Have at least five SNES RPGs on original cartridges? It doesn't matter how well you know them, just owning them gets you into the Papa Big Dick Club.

I've told him that they're just going to degrade and end up being worthless. He doesn't care cause "that will take forever".
Yup, bit rot. Though also, cartridge connectors can wear out from how they scrape against the console's own connectors, and discs lose their factory adhesive over time. It's already happening en masse with HD-DVDs. PS1 and Sega CD games are hitting 30 years old now, they're probably over the hill in terms of how long those discs will last.

I pirate all of the old games I own because emulation is an overall better experience. I will never, ever play a retro JRPG on real hardware ever again because those games are insufferable without a speedup button. I guess you could tell him that piracy lets him enjoy the games without putting forth extra wear-and-tear, though I figure he wouldn't care.

Very based

Yup, like I said earlier, consoomer communities don't give a fuck about how much you actually know or care about the product in question. What matters is how much of it you have. It's pointless to hang out in a club like that, where you just enjoy your lifelong collection you built up back when games were cheap and you were young, and yet, dudes burning entire paychecks on overpriced carts on eBay can garner even more respect because they can just burn a grand on Little Samson and then pose holding it with a soyface.

I'll always enjoy my games, and I'll always enjoy talking about them, but it's just a hobby. I can dump my collection at any time. I've been thinking about it a lot, anyway, considering I do not give a flying fuck about most of them. I am also really fuckin' sick of Sony catering to pedophiles, to the point where I'd just chuck most of my PlayStation stuff directly into the garbage if it weren't worth good money. I'll keep the portables because those are generally good. Everything PS4 can be shot straight into the sun for all I care.
