Saw this and it made me think of the Sony fanboys bitching about the Starfield start screen

The Gran Turismo Movie has opened up the weekend, making $17.4 million in US ticket sales (if the pre-screens are also accounted for). Worldwide ticket sales are $53.9 million so far. However, given the rumors that the movie's budget was either $60 million or, $100 million, that opening weekend looks dreadful in terms of ticket sales.
It has been said before, but it needs repeating

Who the fuck asked for this?

Now I'm hearing talk about a Medieval and Days Gone movie being pushed? Like Sony Niggers are going to tell me that nobody cares about Syphon Filter to produce a game but that people care about Medieval to produce a film? And Days Gone was enough of a flop that the creator had to get online and bitch at people for buying it at a discount cause now he can't get a sequel. And they're wanting to make movies out of these properties?

I kind of understood Uncharted, but even that was a fucking flop. It's almost like most people/gamers actually don't give a shit about Playstation exclusives or something.

If 60 million then it made its budget back in week 1 and is fine. The real answer, of course, is that it sounds like trash and l don't care about it one way or the other.

If even a movie about racing cars can't get butts in seats, what the hell are they expecting with Medieval and Days Gone? The best possible thing they could do, apart from canceling them, is send them straight to streaming, much like that Dead Rising movie.

Whatever a big studio movie's budget is, you typically have to double it to get the real cost because of how much they spend on marketing.

And you'd need a considerable more than that to be a worthwhile net positive. A movie only making back five million past all of its various budgets is still a failure if it's some big 100 million dollar project.

The fact is, there are a few game franchises that have a fanbase or presence to support a major hollywood film even today. It's basically Mario and Sonic, and based on the first Mario, those took like 35 years to even establish enough of a fanbase to make it worthwhile.

The only reason these expensive video games even break even or turn a profit is thanks to inflating the price up to 70 fucking dollars on top of adding all these fucking microtransactions after the fact.

So when I hear Sony is considering a Medieval film after Ratchet and Clank flopped I'm like "WTF is you doing?"
And when I hear that they even are considering Days Gone? lol, lmao even.

MediEvil mightve had a chance before Paul Darrow passed. Now Zarok will be some pooner freakshow.

The Ratchet and Clank movie is all the evidence you need to say Sony is incapable of adapting Playstation exclusive franchises into film. The amount of Sony meddling on that movie is super retarded for what should've been an easy box office hit. Fucked with it so bad it killed the planned Sly Cooper/Jak adaptations.

Days Gone is just a standard, by-the-mill zombie apocalypse movie plot grafted onto a game. There is nothing of interest to adapt there, especially since they already have TLoU.

The only Sony IP I can think of that would be a good movie is probably the Team Ico stuff, they are already just Ghibli films in game form, but Sony would screw it up like Bluepoint did, or they won't touch them because of the falling out with Ueda. They are also Japanese and probably too 'artsy' for the average normie movie watcher.
