It'll be gamergate times... A HUNDRED

This time, there needs to be a reckoning for all the YouTubers who shilled for Sony and other big names. That and consistent stream of people pointing out the hypocrisy of said shills only being popular because of GamerGate.

Then a new brand of content creators will be made, many of whom will then devolve into the same shilling they fought against, and one will inevitably become a gunt-wearing fatsos like Ethan Ralph.

The cycle must continue...

Depends on projections if I'm not mistaken. Companies tend to operate based on what they think they'll get across multiple projects, moving like sharks. If it didn't meet projections that's a failure, they spent money across the company according to a figure they thought they'd get back and if they don't reach that figure it's in the red.

It's why Sleeping Dogs is considered a failure despite selling very well for a new IP. Square Enix flounders because they consistently set their projections too high and spend money they won't make.
Square also had retarded expectations for its Western games like Sleeping Dogs.

Square should burn just for how they treated Sleeping Dogs. Could’ve at least got a few good sequels and shit before the woke infection got everything. Naw the game didn’t sell as well as GTA 4 right out the gate so it’s shit so all we get is a remaster and that shitty Triad War game…. Man I fucking hate Square lol.

It sold like 5.5 million copies. The game is gay and cringe but how the hell is that considered a failure?

Synthetic Man would probably say a AAA needs to reach for the stars and failure is they only breached thr atmosphere.

The game didn't fail, but imagine your customers leave your restaurant and the best thing you can say about the food quality is, "Well, at least I'm not hungry anymore."
I've mentioned it before, but spidernig 2 could sell 10 million (at full price, not after bundles, price slashing, given out for free on ps+, etc) and still lose money. Sony's business model isn't to make money on first party titles. First party titles are an advertisement for the playstation ecosystem itself, because the only thing that makes money at playstation is the fact they take a 30% cut of every microtransaction of every playstation version of every game. God of soy, spidernig, whorizon, they all exist just to say "well, you could get this aggressively monetized live service slop on xbox... OR you could get all the same multiplat aggressively monetized live service slop on playstation and also get spiderman bundled in for free!" Spiderman 2 is not a product, it's an advertisement, it would be like saying a company lost money because they spent millions on a super bowl ad.

because these games have retarded budgets, Last of Us, Horizon and Spiderman all sold like 20 million+ copies so sony threw even more money at the sequels thinking the sales would go up, when instead they all seem to have the same pattern of 4 million sales in 5 minutes, 5.5 million in a couple of weeks and then fudging the numbers until they can say it sold 10 million. With a budget of 200 million+ per game they need to be hitting 10 million copies full price just to break even

Even at that sony were probably ok with eating the loss with the expectations these games would make people rush out to buy a PS5 (they didnt) or that they would rake in the cash by using their huge new IP for a live service game (likely all dead and never coming out) or that they'd be cultural powerhouses (Horizon was instantly forgotten, TloU2's only known for the redrawn memes and even the wokest people I know think soyderman 2 lays it on too thick)

Kinda like Sonys going full Disney/Marvel, bloated budgets and needing to hit home runs for every product they release. I mean I can only imagine how much money these games are actually costing them to make considering I don’t trust them to be completely honest with us.

It’s hilarious how fast non-Sony shills forgot that Horizon game even existed. It was great when I asked my wife about it since she liked those games while playing them but only remembered what I was talking about when I said the robot game with Nikocado in it lol.

Wait the kid isnt Kratos kid? I didnt even make it through the 2018 one so I have no clue, if his really not his son thats hilarious.
It is implied because God of War: Ragnorak was written by Anthony "The King of Cucks" Burch. Speaking of Sony and budgets, I think they are suffering financially right now. They lost so much money with The Last of Us 2. That game was suppose to be the biggest game ever only it went out like a wet fart. The game sold less in 3 years then Baldur's Gate 3 did in its first month. A game that was, for a while, a PC exclusive. A big indictor that things aren't going well for Sony is that they are making all their exclusive be released on PC. The reason they are doing that is to recoup the loses they have suffered with their titles not selling so well on PlayStation. Couldn't have happen to a bigger bunch of scum fucks.

Whats shocking about Anthony Burch is that there are writers worse then him if the recent Borderlands are any indicator, which isn't something I wanted to believe was true.

Agree on them not in a great place right now, though I don't think its just Last of Us 2, but that clearly was a game they expected a fuck ton more out of, which is why I still don't think we have the 100% accurate amount the game has sold. Sony expected a lot out of the PS5 and all the games they have released so far and no amount of PUshSquare/shills coping is going to make me think that just because the PS5 is doing well in the UK of all places that its doing well overall. Sorry Sony if its not Japan or the US no one fucking cares lol,

Sony (the company) recently posted a drop in profits by 29%, blaming their failing camera division, reduced profit in their financial and insurance sectors and their entertainment industry (music, films, games).

Playstation used to prop up the other failing departments at Sony and saved Sony during the transition of shutting down the TV/Laptop departments.

If the PS5 is selling so poorly that's only because the games are shit and the branding/marketing is terrible. There's very powerful piece of tech under the hood of PS5, which is wasted and hasn't been used to its' full potential, because Jim Ryan spent too much time wanking over cross-gen sales and trying to beat Phil Spencer to the award of "worlds worst head of gaming".

Sony have even stated that their goal of 25 million PS5 sales by FY end 2023 is looking very unlikely. However, they have said they won't affect their financial targets to just to fulfil their sales targets, which means, "they won't drop the price just to try and sell more", which is retarded for a platform that relies on digital sales vs hardware ones.

The gaming industry is hurting

PS4 is falling off faster than PS5 is picking up the slack.

The console market is dying.

Games are doing better than ever.
Not even close, and a hypothetical death of consoles would mean absolutely no good for videogames and competition as a whole.
Outside of PC-exclusive indies, virtually everything I've been enjoying in recent years and looking forward next year are console-developed games from Japan regardless I play them on Switch or PC.

It's primarily the AAA scheme that is getting more and more unsustainable nowadays, something that SIE has been betting all money on alongside of the GAAS projects.
Speaking of the latter:

Sony Now Aims to Release Only 6 PlayStation Live Service Games by March 2026

The number of those planned releases has now seemingly been halved, as suggested by Sony Group COO Hiroki Totoki during the company's latest earnings call. While the official avoided using the word "delay" outright, he said that Sony is currently in the process of figuring out when to release half of the GAAS titles from the initially promised batch. Meanwhile, Totoki committed to launching the remaining six games by early 2026, VGC reports. His remarks hence indicate there have been some changes to the original plan to release all 12 of the upcoming live service games in the next two and a half years.

Exactly which titles from the company's first big GAAS batch ended up being postponed is unclear, as most of them haven't even been announced as of today. The only two live service titles that Sony has confirmed to date are Naughty Dog's The Last of Us multiplayer spin-off and Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon. Totoki implied that these delays were brought about by standards concerns, highlighting how Sony should not compromise "game quality" as part of its GAAS foray.

In spite of this setback, the gaming giant's overall strategy remains unchanged, with Totoki confirming that live service games remain an integral part of Sony's long-term plans. PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan previously said that the company doesn't intend to pursue GAAS offerings at the expense of its AAA single-player experiences, but in addition to them.

Whether such ambitious diversification is feasible without more major acquisitions in the vein of the 2022 Bungie deal remains to be seen. After all, offering long-term support for a live service game is often as challenging as developing it in the first place, if not more so. As evident by the fact that Blizzard's own president is nowadays saying players lack patience, even companies with much more GAAS experience than Sony sometimes struggle with meeting the fans' quality and quantity expectations.
