A big indictor that things aren't going well for Sony is that they are making all their exclusive be released on PC. The reason they are doing that is to recoup the loses they have suffered with their titles not selling so well on PlayStation. Couldn't have happen to a bigger bunch of scum fucks.
It's probably why we won't ever see Ghost of Tsushima get a PC release, unless they're really desperate for money. Supposedly Ghost was the 10th overall most popular game for 2022 and it was 1st across all Sony games. Meanwhile the God of War sequel was 15th overall and 4th for Sony games, losing to the 2018 God of War which was 13th overall and 2nd for Sony games. A new IP released two years ago was played more than the sequel to a major IP released that year and every other Sony game. TLOU2, which also released in 2020, was down at 51st place. They're probably going to hold off on giving Ghost of Tsushima a PC release so they can keep trying to lure people to their Playstation ecosystem.

??? Nobody is buying a PS5 to play Ghost of Tsushima. Nobody talks about that game anymore. Might have made a good pack-in title for a PS4 bundle but not for PS5.

I honestly thought GoT was pretty mediocre. I played it and was just like “eh”. It was ok. Still just another Sony movie game.

It sold pretty well on PS4 and was one of their bigger hits, the PS5 port was also very good. I don't think it moved any PS
Square also had retarded expectations for its Western games like Sleeping Dogs.
Square's projections are always absolutely fucking batshit insane. Everything they make falls short. Back when they were publishing Tomb Raider reboots it sold like 5 million or so units, topping charts, critical acclaim, they still considered it a disappointment.
It's primarily the AAA scheme that is getting more and more unsustainable nowadays, something that SIE has been betting all money on alongside of the GAAS projects.
Speaking of the latter:
What confuses me is that Capcom has somehow seemed to figure out how to produce AAA quality stuff with their own in house engines and keep churning out fairly large games on a decent cycle of two to three years of turnaround.

Western devs specifically are totally drowning. They're outsourcing everything to pajeet and publishers are paying 600+ fat ugly women and faggot men to sit in offices and drink lattes all day while they struggle to code basic features in Unreal Engine 5.

Sony seems to have realized all too late that GAAS is dying, but I don't think they can pull back in time to save themselves.

It is implied because God of War: Ragnorak was written by Anthony "The King of Cucks" Burch.
Holy shit, Burch of all people wrote this piece of shit?! That explains so fucking much. How did a faggot like him land such a high profile gig? Last i remember of this dude was his wedding video:
Uploaded... 13 years ago?! Time fucking flies.
This shit turned into "give it a listen every time it's posted" in double quick time for me, it's that good.

Japan has a much higher work ethic than much of America. That’s why they can release big games consistently. American game devs are some of the most whiny, insufferable fucks out there. They are mostly in California and the work ethic is horrendous there.

After WW2 and the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan's economy went higher than America, and is still is today.

EDIT: Let me reiterate here, Japan's economy isn't perfect, in fact it has a lot shit, like the late-90s Japanese recession. That said, what other country is perfect? No country

Their economy is in the shitter at the moment. The value of yen is lower than USD. Many young Japanese men don’t want to have sex because they’re addicted to porn, so the Japanese population is declining rapidly. That means a much smaller workforce. They also aren’t spending much money, which is so bad that there’s a withdrawal fee at banks in Japan to stimulate the economy even just a little bit.

The value of the yen currency is at its lowest compared to both the dollar and euro, and the Japanese government has been introducing retarded laws such as a new freelance tax that is going to screw over their media industry in the long run, especially voice actors, animators and many other artists. There is currently a large campaign going on in Japan, with the help of an organization called NAFCA (https://twitter.com/NAFCA_official - https://nafca.jp/) mobilized in to fight for the industry with both information and legal discussions. Weirdly enough, I haven't heard any noise about it elsewhere.

Speaking of that, I didn't see it previously in this thread until someone quoted something several pages back but
French Comix is better than both American animation and anime
French Comix is still better than anime. :smug:
I don't like someone trying to make the comic version of console wars between us the French and the Japanese.

Edit:
French comics used to be affordable until they exploded in price since the shift towards euro + repeating tax raises across the years. Now a single volume such as Asterix or Spirou can cost 10€ minimum (they used to cost the equivalent of 4€ before) and adult comics can easily go over 20€ or 30€ a piece. Doesn't help there is a gay law (Lang Law) from the 1980's that forbids libraries to discount books more than 5% of the initial price, even during sales (second-hand market is exempt thankfully).

Who do you get your economic reports from, Paul Krugman? Japan's economy has been dead since the 90's.
Yup, they even have a term for it, the "Lost Decade". Which refers to the 90s. And then things didn't magically shape back up in the 2000s, so now it's the "Lost Decades", as the entire world plummets into shit and Japan isn't reviving at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Decades

Pretty much, 2018 was alright, I had my fun killing the copy paste valkyries, but all of the last part of the game could have been a long cutscene. Then between Ragnarok taking so long and hearing how marvel tier the writing was, I outright passed on it. From the data shared clearly I wasn't the only one.
Depends where you have your focus, I'm a filthy tasteless weeb, so the Japanese understanding the last few years that yes, you can release a game on PC and not only a Nintendo or Sony console has been a huge boon for me with a lot of double A and lower that catch my eye.

But yes, if you hate/don't care for what the slanties release, you really want to just eat a gun. Triple A is a constant disaster and the western indie scene is really suffering from all of the tranification. And west seems to be outright allergic to double A projects which makes it even worse.

It's fucking insane but it's happening everywhere, I work in software but nothing related to games and I see the same shit. Same deal with the film industry. But I am noticing a changing of the winds where free rides seem to be over and Creative Assembly basically dumped half it's employees will be a continuation of a trend. Expect multiple of the big companies to do this while they keep death spiralling.

It's definitely nice to see companies trimming the (literal) fat, but it might be too little too late. There just straight up isn't any genuine talent left in the AAA gaming sphere. Anyone with a dream and passion is making their own indie title.

Pretty soon AI will phase out even more of the faggotry. That will be a funny day.

I was talking about ghost of Tsushima, but as far as god of war goes I thought 2018 was ok. Like ghost of Tsushima it was just an ok game. Ragnarok though was absolute fucking dogshit, no surprise that Sweet Baby worked on it.

The console market is dying.
The Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch would like a word with you. As advantageous as PC gaming can be, those two consoles still have that pick up and play mentality through backwards compatibility and a library of worthwhile titles. Well, at least until MS releases their discless Xbox Series X.
