I sort of want it to too, but on the other hand, I fear if it flops, Nintendo will just turtle up and not make any more Zelda movies for a long-ass time. Basically what happened with the live action Mario Bros. movie.
You say that like if it would be a bad thing.
Or remember the IGN April Fools trailer
https://youtube.com/watch?v=HBCzkz3gHb8
God, that trailer is too well made for an april fools prank, I was hoping in the last 10 seconds Link would go "WELL EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME PRINCESS!" in the most annoying way possible to have a punchline.

That's why this worked as a short fan movie. A Hollywood live-action interpretation will never work, like at all. Video game movies have proven to be shit with some exceptions (Uwe Boll's Postal and Paul WS's Mortal Kombat are good movies).

That's an improper example. TLoU: Remastered was an enhanced port for the PS4 on account of the lack of backwards compatibility. The infrastructure between PS3 and PS4 is night and day.
True, but it’s still a PS3 game that launched a few months before the PS4, that got a PS4 port only a year later when they could’ve just put it on the PS4 to begin with.
That benefits consumers that swapped from Xbox to PS after MS's flop with the Xbox One and its ludicrous DRM.
You mean the DRM that was scrapped and never actually added to the system?

Yes, that policy. That did not stop people in droves buying PS4s.

The PS3 had a higher player base than the then unreleased PS4. It was smart to wait a year to get the hang of the system while allowing it to grow as a console itself.

That movie bombing was probably a blessing in disguise. Nintendo is fine as a videogame company but the way things are going they will become Disney soon where videogames are only a minor part of what the multimedia empire does. Disney was once just an animation studio and was better at just that too.

I actually enjoyed the first Resident Evil film. It was pretty shit but I enjoyed that schlock as an early 2000s "turn your brain off and enjoy the stupid shit" type of movie. Kind of like those Underworld films.
tbf, it was only scrapped after the gaming populace said "FUCK NO".
Absolutely murdered by their competitor at the start of the gen because they were dumb enough to put a loaded gun on the table. It was the "$299" thing all over again.

The biggest misconception about the PS4 early dominance is that casual normies gave a shit about the Microsoft always online DRM bullshit and that's why they bought PS4.

They didn't, you can see this today where that shit is being brought back and there's only an outrage on hardcore gaming forums.

What they cared about was that PS4 was running games better at a less expensive price. They also gave even less of a shit about Kinect.

It also didn't hurt that PS4 had the black friday bundle (bunduru) with GTA V remastered and The Last of Us Remastered only a year later.

This is what I’ve always hated the most about Sony. They don’t compete by propping themselves up through making unique and interesting experiences, they mainly just try to bring everyone else down. They and their fans live by the idea that it’s not enough to succeed, everyone else must fail. Say what you will about Sega talking shit in the 90s, but at least they had plenty of great exclusives to back up their aggressive marketing.

Sony (the company) recently posted a drop in profits by 29%, blaming their failing camera division, reduced profit in their financial and insurance sectors and their entertainment industry (music, films, games).

Playstation used to prop up the other failing departments at Sony and saved Sony during the transition of shutting down the TV/Laptop departments.

If the PS5 is selling so poorly that's only because the games are shit and the branding/marketing is terrible. There's very powerful piece of tech under the hood of PS5, which is wasted and hasn't been used to its' full potential, because Jim Ryan spent too much time wanking over cross-gen sales and trying to beat Phil Spencer to the award of "worlds worst head of gaming".

Sony have even stated that their goal of 25 million PS5 sales by FY end 2023 is looking very unlikely. However, they have said they won't affect their financial targets to just to fulfil their sales targets, which means, "they won't drop the price just to try and sell more", which is retarded for a platform that relies on digital sales vs hardware ones.

The gaming industry is hurting
It cannot be overstated that the only good exclusive I’ve seen is Ratchet and Clank. Everything else has been either completely inane or full of caveats.

It is but IMO what's happening is demographics: there are fewer young people than there were decades prior. The age of those playing games is getting older and naturally you have less time to focus on games.

Handhelds were much cheaper.

Game Boy Color launched at $79, even factoring in inflation that's $140 today. Buy 3 one for each kid level of cheap.

Software sales show that's obviously not true:

What's the nintendo equivalent for their average consumer. As in, your Joe-six-pack who has to play the latest madden, or Tyrone who must play the latest NBA iteration.
Since it's nintendo's drone-like fans who keep the software sales roof high by constantly supporting the cyclical release of zelda, mario, pokemon, mario kart...

I don't think the PS5 is selling poorly, it will probably meet or exceed the PS4's total, depending on how long it remains in production. The problem is software sales, especially in Japan.

That’s hardly the same thing. Those franchises (minus Pokemon, but we’ve bitched about that enough already) are all once, maybe twice per generation, and they’re usually very different in how they play. Unless you want to really stretch it by counting spin-offs, but those are their own thing. Sometimes a series sells consistently well because it consistently puts out good games and there isn’t a deeper meaning.

The equivalent is a Nintendo youtuber who plays and pretends to like literally every Nintendo franchise because its his job. But beyond that, I don't really think such a person exists. And besides, we look down on Joe and Tyrone because they buy the same shit in a different box every year. If you think that Zelda and Mario play the same or even that, to pull an example, Mario 3D World and Mario Odyssey play the same, then you are a brainlet. Obviously Pokemon is the exception but when was the last fully new 3D Mario release? 2017. When was the last fully new Mario Kart? 2015. Zelda came out this year but only after a gap of six years. How is that cyclical. If it was your favorite series that took a six, seven or eight year break despite selling 50 million copies wouldn't you be pissed?

Actually, I change my answer. Its Pokemon. Pokemon fans are the answer, they know the games are shit, they know they are built on the bones of the last release and sold for full price and they hate the lack of game updates between releases and buy them anyway. I throw those people to the wolves, be gone with them.

When you have an anime series, plushies, trading cards, and seventeen other kinds of merch for the new Pokemon region all set to release in 7 months, good luck trying to convince anyone to delay the game launch to actually put it in the oven longer. Retards are going to buy it no matter how shit it is and the sales figures after Scarlet/Violet's shitty launch has given GameFreak carte blanche to never give a fuck ever again. Not like they did care in the past decade anyways.

That also reminds me, Nintendo just happens to do merch far better, both in quality and in sales performance, than Sony or Xbox. In a lot of cases, there's just no merch whatsoever related to some Sony or Xbox games. George Lucas showed that merch is where the money is it.

Honestly, none of Microsoft's shit is merchandisable in the way Nintendo's is. Being "cute" might be slightly limiting in what you can and cannot do with Mario, but its wonderful for Mario figures. Zelda has diehard retard fans willing to spend on pricey stuff and Pokemon, well, you know...

As to Sony, ehh. Even their platformer mascots have human proportions, makes them a little bit harder to turn into stuffed animals.
