Very low hopes for a new handheld turning out well at all. If it had backwards compatibility with Vita games, it could be a little interesting. But I don't think they can get developers back from the Switch now that they've gone several years with no handheld, and no longer have a large dedicated audience like they did with PSP and Vita.

You mean that thing that once upon a time was a magical wonderful thing but is now a dirty nasty thing in the gay-ming industry?

Yea, no... enjoy your "remasters/remakes/updates/reinterpretations" and expect to pay more for those older games than you did when you first bought them.

Arguably Sony's efforts to make the Vita difficult to hack inhibited sales significantly. They went with a proprietary storage format which was intentionally smaller than MicroSD to make adapters impossible, and that proprietary card was very expensive and created a big barrier to entry.
I have an OG vita that I bought during the launch window. It's hacked with a 64gb MicroSD card inside of it. No adapter required.

A pSVita 2 would be interesting, but it's insanely retarded to launch it after the portal, which is just a Dreamcast pad+VM in HD graphics.

Remote play on OG Vita was great though. Playing Diablo 3 while chilling in bed while the GF watched dross was pretty neat.

How much did you use it? I ran into issues with it desyncing or completely disconnecting every 20-30 mins interrupting gameplay, made it unusable.

I get the impression most people tried it once or twice and never went further.

Rumour: A New PlayStation Handheld Console Reportedly in the Works

They have to be absolutely retarded to do this - so, of course, there's a non-zero chance that they're going to do it.

Edit: grammar
Pre-Woke era Sony this would've been hype as fuck. Now it's just gross.

I get the impression most people tried it once or twice and never went further.
I used it for slower games using that streaming service they had, before they cut service for it on Vita. It worked fine unless it was an action game.

Sony/PlayStation is the Apple of the video game market.
If you see it that way ok, I don't.
I would say Nintendo is more apple like than Sony.
I mean, it's unique and exclusive as it gets and they have their own "cool tax" much like apple.
Sure, Sony would love to be the apple of the vida market but far as I can tell nothing can compete with Nintendo's rabid fan base, no matter how hard the Soynerds kvetch.

Sure, Nintendo has done some very bad shit, but they don't really tailor to hipsters as much as Apple does with its consumers, but Nintendo does have an audience full of pathetic manchildren but just with a different flavor. Sony and Micro also have manchildren audiences with most that focus more on buying sportsball titles and interactive movies rather than actually play vidya

And that's what makes the Soynerds kvetch so much. Nintendo has managed to hold onto said rabid/autistic fanbase - despite all of the blunders they've committed - because, out of the big 3, they are the only ones consistently pumping out video games that people of all ages legitimately want to play. I mean, look at the Switch's exclusive lineup from last year alone. We got -
1707065248954.png
the latest installment in a cult classic strategy RPG series,
1707065214918.png
not one,
1707065353086.png
not two,
1707065419821.png
not three,
1707065798755.png
not even four,
1707065476158.png
but FIVE genuinely superb (if not that, then at least perfectly acceptable) remasters of what is considered to be some of the best that their respective franchises had to offer,
1707065568654.png
the highly-anticipated sequel to one of the most beloved video games in recent memory, with many people going on to claim it's even BETTER than that highly-acclaimed original game (of course, YMMV)
1707065691204.png
ANOTHER highly-anticipated sequel that everybody thought was dead and buried, and that fans of that respective series embraced with open arms,
and last, but certainly not least,
1707065919169.png
what many people are calling the best 2D installment in the Mario franchise since SUPER FUCKING MARIO WORLD (again, YMMV)
That's a yearly lineup that most consoles would KILL for, and keep in mind, this is in the Switch's SEVENTH year of life.

What did Sony have in terms of exclusives this year?
1707066151129.png
a divisive capeshit sequel,
1707066474977.png
an action-RPG (not even a turn-based affair) that's already coming to PC, mostly likely with all of the DLC too, so why even fucking bother with buying a PS5
and need we forget this stalwart modern classic?
fucking pitiful.

Microsoft is the Apple of video games except the part where they dominate markets.

Sony is the Apple of video games except the part where they make good products.

Nintendo is the Apple of video games except the part where they are consistently ahead of the curve on tech.

Everyone wants to copy Apple because they have been market leaders in one way or another for 20+ years.

If it was the 80s, 90s and 2000s, we would've believed that but not even then

Around 5-10 hours a week/enough to do two full runs of D3 with Sorcerer and Witch Doctor. I used it on my own wifi/home network as yeah, it was unplayable when away from home.

If there's one thing Sony and Apple have in common, it's how they both made overpriced VR headsets that only appeal to the biggest of their consoomers. Though, Apple's costs like seven times more and doesn't seem to have a particular use case.
