Sony hate thread

People tell me this, and yet out of everyone I talk to in my personal and work life only 1 person owns a PS5. And he doesn't even play games on it, he uses it to watch streamers on Youtube and Twitch I think.
From my experience, it's really not an uncommon thing. PS5 is a netflix box, an annual sports slop box, and a live service slop box. Not really surprising that software sales are so abysmally low when the people making and buying it just aren't interested in games.

Then where does the 50 million number comes from? And no blacks with status symbols do not count.

Resellers count, they purchased these things and stocked up during lockdow, hoping there would be a rise on demand. They've all been caught with their pants down trying to get rid of them amidst the launch of the ""slim"" model.
They bought so many consoles that they couldn't sell through them in THREE AND A HALF YEARS, including the extended period when they were as rare as hen's teeth? That doesn't make sense.

Are the Japanese just way, way, way better at touch controls than I am? I resent even playing relatively slow-paced games on my phone because using a touchscreen sucks so much.

It's a horrible experience and I can't imagine it being my primary mode of playing games.
It was a multiple choice survey and the way the questions were setup were bound to lead to smartphone being top dog. Stuff like "which devices do gameplayers use on a daily basis" was pretty obvious in which results it would give considering that nearly all the participants were high schoolers or college students. Which device do you think Zoomers are going to be able to bring and play in the time between classes? Even millennials were playing emulated pokemon games on their phones before mobile gaming and app stores really took off. Everyone talks about how great the mobility of the Switch is but a lot of people generally don't bring that shit outside, they just bring it around their house.

The other big hint was that they stated that they mainly play games while doing other shit like watching shows. Maybe I missed a part but they never asked direct questions like "which device do you prefer to play on?".

As you mentioned, it largely functions as a streaming box. A lot of people constantly forget that a huge chunk of the population is either technologically illiterate or just completely adverse to learning new technology. One might say "why don't they just buy the series S if they want a streaming box, it's cheaper!" but this crowd has no idea what that is. What they know is that if they want to stream Netflix or Max, they have to spend $500 on either an Xbox or a Playstation and everyone tells them that Xbox is garbage, that is the limit of their research.

The absolutely abysmal software sales is a huge tell that people are either just playing their normiecore games that came out 5 years ago or they're just using the console for streaming because cable is dead. 50 million consoles sold and the best selling exclusive for that console (Spider-Man 2) broke 10 million units back in February. Spider-Man in general is a literal moneyprinter IP that everyone consumes, especially with Venom, and this barely sold to 20% of their base.

It is a new Sony console, and honestly, Sony sucks at hardware, so many probably bought them as they needed a new system. By the time the PS4 hit, my PS3 was totaled and wouldn’t even turn on. My PS4 was absolutely disgusting by the time the PS5 came. Granted, these were family systems, but even then, my Wii and U were pretty pristine in comparison and never had the amount of faults as Sony systems.

My family owns a PS5 for this reason. The only use it gets is dad’s Rocket League sessions and the siblings playing Fortnite.

Don't forget, that it was borderline impossible to find a ps5 WITHOUT spidernog 2. That 10 million includes the millions they gave away for free*. The most popular superhero ip of all time, and the only one that's retaining any of their popularity after the most lucrative time for superheroes in all of history, backed by the FOMO advertisement machine of sony, and they had to bundle it for most of those "sales".

*It's worse than free from sony's perspective, as the insomniac leaks showed that sony pays disney a steep premium to bundle marvel ip software with their consoles.

Is that SM2 or Miles? Because it was the original game that got tons of deep discount BF bundles for the PS4's later half.

MOD EDIT:
For context, Sony is frequently subjected to data breaches, including full doxes with account names, passwords, and addresses, and the PSN service they are enforcing is not available in every country which has PC Helldivers II players. The PSN user agreement includes draconian practices such as the ability to ban users for entering false personal information.

In case you thought you hated Sony enough, a new update came out about Helldivers 2 on Steam. They are now requiring you to link a Playstation Network account to play Helldivers 2 on Steam. For extra hilarity, it was just announced yesterday that Helldivers 2 is the 7th highest grossing Sony published game in history but if they don't count the PC sales, it wouldn't even rank in the top 20.

Obviously the new one hasn't had time to be bundled to quite the degree the first one did, it's only been out a few months after all, but from october-december, I didn't see a single ps5 for sale without spiderman 2 included.

Visual novels are not banned on playstation, Japanese and anime style visual novels are banned on playstation
It's less being banned but more they're probably still scrutinized by the californian content regulations, plus the bullshit to write the reports in English as extra redundancy.
I continue to see sometimes news of visual novels (ADV games) being released as multi-platforms, between Switch and PS4, such as the recent Dokyuusei remake and everlasting flowers. But more and more VNs have been sticking to Switch as the sole console release, such as Muv Luv, Fate/Stay Night, Amakano, Hatsumirai and Planetarian Snow Globe.
Nevermind the otome genre, all the female audience migrated on Nintendo.

It's embarrassing how low the PlayStation brand has fallen when its cousin branch (Sony Music Japan + Aniplex) doesn't even want to bring a classic title on PS anymore.

I find it very funny that this shit happens the day after Earth Defense Force 6 got its final release date on Steam.

And unlike Helldivers, EDF can be played in offline singleplayer mode too.

I see this a lot with Sony games, especially their IPs. When you ask where the games are, the shills respond with Horizon, GoW etc. When you look at the sales of the games vs sales of the hardware, something doesn't add up.

Either, the games sell like shit and no-one is interested in playing them; your best game was only played by 20% of your fans? OR, Sony are pulling a Microsoft and are being fucky with the wording of "sold hardware". MS swapped the definition of sold, from sold to customers, to sold to a company where the hardware sits in a warehouse.

With the reluctance of a price drop, after a price increase, 3.5 years into the gen, Playstation must be fucking struggling worse than they're admitting.

And this is why Sony are bailing on to the PC market. Console gaming is dead (not including the switch as that's a handheld). Casuals don't console game, newbies, normies and niggercattle would rather browse youtube, watch netflix or scroll tiktok.
The hardcore/old school gamers are so fed up of the bullshit that they've jumped to PC.

It can't be coincidence that both MS and Sony are throwing their weight behind PC. The pair of them have effectively killed the console industry and are doing a 'weekend at bernies' to pretend to investors that everything is A-OK.

Oh jesus, Sonic is about to get even more woke than the jewish Knuckles episode.
and Star Trek more pozzed than the current Kurtzman era.

and do consoles owned by scalpers count as sold?

Sony now brazenly steps in with a shotgun to the head of their golden goose.

They're not satisfied reaping a massive windfall from an unexpected smash it, they want to sell your data too.
They're also trying to defraud their investors and advertising partners by misrepresenting steam users as Playstation users.

But why though? You can go to Walmart right now, and buy a little google box, like onn., for less than $60 and get all the same features for a fraction of the price. You'd literally have to be retarded buy a Playstation just for that.

Edit: Minor spelling error
