and billions on monetization strategy consultants for those games that never even released

however much of an embarrassment shit like Starfield is it's still not as bad as spending hundreds of millions each on slop like Fairgame$ and Concord which are a joke and will probably never come out and if they do come out will completely fail
 
No wonder the private equity groups are sweating bullets currently.
  • They pour billions into ESG and DIA and get no return.
  • They spend billions on corporate positioning and subsidizing their projects and make nothing.
  • States are starting to realize they can sue them and putting a bee in their bonnet, multiple states have Blackrock bent over summing up to well over a trillion dollars.
  • They are spending trillions collectively on buying homes or business property and the market is cold due to the economy meaning they waste money.
  • In droves, they are pulling out of venture capital agreements like Kotaku and Vox etc.
I would be interested to see how much money Sony receives from private investors. I cannot see Sony's movie division surviving the next few years.

Honestly, the "ESG money will cover the woke losses" strategy had less legs than the average snake.

Woke projects are shit. Those who releash shit products are not going to keep many customers. Those that lack customers will lose a lot of money and ESG will have to pay for all of it. Everyone will treat ESG like a safety net that pays you and will sign up. ESG cannot possibly pay for all of that but they are contractually obligated to do so. The money they will spent on salvaging those failing woke project will be on top of the money they lent on favourable terms and will never be paid back. Thus, ESG keeps losing money and will not be able to stay afloat as a project.

Commies operate on flawed understanding of the human nature. Humans are by default territorial creatures. The things that they own, they will fight tooth and nail to keep. Conversly, the things they do not feel like they own will be discarded on a whim. The world is filled with expensive-to-create live service games people stopped playing and destroyed their studios. Live service games are a lot like fat acceptance activists. A problem that kills itself.

they want a world where people are forced to be kind and respect each other without actually having to earn it, thats the flawed logic of Progressives is assuming everyone is automatically a model citizen from birth

I don't see their movie division dying so soon. They might stop trying to make Spider-Man spinoffs but they'll just keep releasing Spider-Man and Venom shit ad naueseam until that shit crashes and burns in about a decade.
 
Polyphony Digital, which makes the Gran Turismo series of games, has reported a 18.8% decrease in net profit, compared to last year.

Polyphony Digital, a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment, reported a decline in net profit for the fiscal year ending March 2024, down 18.8% from the previous fiscal year to 331 million yen. The previous fiscal year (ending March 2023) saw net profit of 408 million yen. This was revealed in the "Financial Results Announcement" published in the Official Gazette on June 26th.

Whether or not this will get Kaz to get his thumbs out of his ass, and make actual good racing games, is yet to be seen.

It also looks like that there won't be a June Update for GT7, although there will be a GT World Series event next weekend, in Montreal, Canada.

Paid online was the reason why I stopped buying sony consoles after the PS3, as a former fanboy it was quite obvious PC was were you get more bang for your buck.
It is always entertaining to see soyny continuously shitting itself. Makes us feel better about not being invested at all in this shitty company anymore.
 
Leaks are strongly suggesting that Sony will be bringing a PSN launcher to PC.

I think I can explain Sony's retardation but only with galactic levels of copium:
  • AMD and Sony are attached at the hip,
  • PS5PRO uses ZEN 4 (PS5 uses Zen 3) and RDNA3 (PS5 uses RDNA2+)
  • Cerny has new machine learning chips and Cerny Secret Sauce to upscale graphics
  • ML is hardware based, not software based
  • PS-PC launcher will favour AMD PCs over Nvidia PCs
  • Nvidia PC will be PS5 vs AMD PC as PS5PRO
AMD are pushing/paying Sony to attack the PC market so that AMD can regain marketshare from Nvidia (AMD+Sony merger incoming?)

Tinfoil: MS bought ABK to disrupt the plan. AMD have forced MS out of the console market and, just like with the OG Xbox, Microsoft will have to cut the gen short and change their hardware manufacturer (this time back to Nvidia, instead of away from them).
