I am legitimately mad at the Internet. I guess regardless of whatever happens to FromSoft I can still enjoy everything of theirs unmolested on my physical copies.

If your company does business in a country, it is subject to the local laws, the same always happens with American multinationals. If you remember when Microsoft was acquiring Activision, even though both are American companies, they needed to get the sign off of the EU, UK, etc anti-competition authorities as they do significant business worldwide.

Since Kadokawa doesn't actually sell its anime and light novels in the US, they are probably fine here. Much more likely that the Japanese stop it or, more likely still, that no gov intervention occurs.

They literally have multiple overseas subsidiaries and holdings. Every multinational corporation knows that mergers require getting the approval of multiple governments unless you want to divest out of your biggest markets.

Worst gaming news I’ve read in a long long time, I hope Xbox takes advantage of a change in U.S. leadership to get the FTC to try and cockblock this shit as Sony tried to do to them or that Japan nationalizes this shit to protect it from their perfidious, kikey claws. By any and all means necessary this must be prevented from happening. It must be reiterated, FUCK Sony! I’m mad at the internet!

Because microsoft dropped the ball so hard after xbox one that Sony owns the other half of the gaming market nintendo doesn't own.

Kadokawa's subsidiary, Gotcha Gotcha Games, develops RPG Maker and is phasing into doing the publishing. If Sony wants to fuck with the licenses they hand out so spergs can make MLP incest porno games with the software, there might be an outcry.
 
As if Sony needs more companies under their umbrella. Nobody wants gay walking simulators, let alone own the majority of multiple markets.

The things that it does have here are nowhere near a monopoly status when combined with Sony's assets. That is only an issue in Japan.

Regulators don't block solely if something is a monopoly, they block based on perceived effects on competition, hence anti-competition laws.
