The PS5 has struggled just to scrape past ~60-65 million units after four years on the market. Sony knows the PS5 will never catch up the PS4 at this point and they know they will be totally fucked once the Switch 2 is out and GTA 6 isn't going to save them. Sure they will probably get a big boost in sales around the game's launch but it won't do much to save that sinking ship.
At this point, i’ll wait a year for GTA 6 to launch on PC and pass on buying a console. Put that money towards a new GPU. I don’t see this game as a reason to shell out $500 on a plastic box.
Microsoft is already confirmed not to be leaving the console market. In fact the current rumor is that they're planning to accelerate the move to next gen and have a successor out in 2026 or 2027.
Sega's fully pozzed nowadays. Yakuza is already deep in the DEI pipeline and I fully expect the next Persona to be troonified. A new Sega console might have even gayer first-party titles than current Sony.
2009 or 2016 Sony would have destroyed Sony this gen. Even in the darkest days of the PS3, you still had some worthwhile exclusives.
Not only that but consoles as a whole have less and less reasons to exist given the state of PC gaming and handhelds, a Sega console would just be a wannabe PC like the others and there aren't enough Segatards that would dutifully preorder it to keep them afloat in this day and age
