They did always have the big budget blockbuster cinematic type games even on PS1, with titles like metal gear and final fantasy, but they always had plenty of simple "fun" games too.
Yeah that's my point. God of War used to be a hack and slash button masher, Ratchet & Clank was an action-platformer, Metal Gear Solid was Kojima's manifesto etc. Now everything is up its own ass pretentious guff that lectures you with endless exposition and resents giving the player any kind of agency in case they start having fun.

Can you imagine if naughty dog made a crash bandicoot game today? Instead of a fun platformer, we get a solemn reminder of the horrors of colonialism and the genocide that the aboriginals suffered through 😭 No gameplay allowed

From what I remember of the little I played, the Crash 4 that Toys For Bob made was really good, satisfyingly difficult and made few concessions to the Modern Audience except for changing Crash's girlfriend from furry coombait into soyjak (furry) coombait.

Of course Activision banished them to the CoD mines not long after, so we can only assume that the next Crash game will be total shit unless Microsoft agree to let a competent smaller dev have a crack at it. I'd like to see what the Hat In Time or Penny's Big Breakaway teams could do with Crash or Spyro or Jak & Daxter but I may as well piss in the wind.

I'm sorry, you appear to have incorrectly sorted MGS into the "not pretentious" bin. Care to try again?

They should have outright fired Hulst not just demoted him. Him and cuckmann dont even have the decency to fuck off, they'll hang on draining every last drop they can get like the parasites they are
I really hope the new naughty dog game crashes and burns
They haven't had a successful release in a decade when using old IP, I doubt their new IP that's already widely mocked and hated is going to do great

Sony is still Japanese at heart and he's being replaced by a Nip, in their eyes it may have well been a firing. He's just lucky he didn't the Gunpei Yokoi treatment and get made Lead Pencil Sharpener.

Yup, for those unfamiliar with Japanese corporate autism, Japanese don't like to outright fire people. They'd rather just make their job worse and worse until they quit. Constructive dismissal is illegal in the US but is widely used in Japan. They even have words for this. Madogiwazoku means "window tribe", which are people who are given a seat next to a window and no real job to do. Sony is actually known for using Oidashibeya, which means "forcing-out room". It means putting employees in windowless rooms doing repetitive and boring work while their status is stripped away and they're ostracized.

The UN has been taking Ls left and right this decade. It seems like a lot of countries are tired of the activist meddling, especially when it's carried out by envoys from third-world shitholes that don't even uphold a fraction of the rights that these bureaucrats are trying to hold the developed world to.

Going after the imperial household laws was extra retarded though. It's a hereditary monarchy with a Not!God-Emperor at the top, it's not an enlightened institution and never will be. Wasting resources on trying to make it one is pointless and just stirring up needless controversy in a country that's already hyper-sensitive to external criticism.

Well it's about 5pm PST / 8pm EST and the Spider-Man 2 PC port has peaked 3 hours ago to 18k concurrent players with a 56% (mixed) review score. Apparently the port has a lot of issues. First Spider-Man game peaked to 66k concurrent players while costing $50 million in dev costs to port to PC. Spider-Man 2 might go up some more with the upcoming weekend but it's still a really poor showing.

Assuming another case of $39 million in dev costs to port, they need $55.7 million before the steam cut to break even, which is about 928k million copies at the current $60 pricing.

EDIT: Looking back at the leaks, I believe SM1R sold about 1.7 million units on PC and that game's peak concurrent players was more than triple this game's peak so far.

I do not believe this game can make back its money. Between the amount of money it costed, the amount of sales it had until know, the fact that they have to pay the Mouse Tax and the fact that this game is considered bad, this game will either be a failure or a success on a technicality.

Honestly, do you even really want to give your money to this woke farce of a game? This game is infested with Sweet Baby's DEI nonsense everywhere, and I do mean everywhere you look in this game you will see either rainbow flags or BLM murals, not to mention they made MJ look like an ugly tranny.

I'm already seeing Soynys justifying the PC port's poor launch as "of course it would sell poorly, PC gamers only pirate". This combined with Microsoft throwing in the towel with Forza Horizon 5 going to PS5, I assume the Soynys will be extra insufferable for the next little while.

Wouldn't the Soynys also cope that either "you're using a junky normie PC or laptop so that's why the performance sucks" and "clearly the game can't be handled by virgin PCs while us Chads on PS5 can experience them at full potential"?

The Insomniac leak stated its development cost was $315 million and made a profit of $75 million. However that didn't include marketing costs, which very likely heavily exceeded that $75 million in profit by several magnitudes. Then there's the question of whether those figures include the Disney licensing fees. They rushed to send this off to PC to hopefully make some money but its looking like Spider-Man 2 potentially lost even more money in trying to port to PC.

The fact that they never did any DLC for the game is really telling.
