I liked the announcement of the new Shinobi game, love that it is fully hand drawn 2d, the Sonic Racers guys saw A Rift Apart's gimmick and said "I want some of that". Those Kart Racers are fun so this might be too. I'm intrigued by the Digimon game, probably it has some Palworld influence as well. I'm a sucker for the Onimusha game so that's on my radar and I got the date for Stellar Blade on PC.

I have zero interest on anything that was shown by a Western developers. All of it will come to PC anyways, again this reaffirms my statement that the PS5's only justification for existing is that it caters to cattle that is too stupid, lazy or brand obsessed to just get a PC to play the same games while paying the Sony tax.

The Shinobi game is not being made by Sega of Japan, it's being made by Lizardcube of France. So that is a western developer.

Which btw I thought the game was a metroidvania from the trailer and immediately lost interest but the dev on twitter is claiming it's not.

I'm actually jazzed as fuck that Chinese and Korean games are getting attention alongside the usual Japanese stuff because their output is surprisingly decent.
That is what happens when the western studios outsource most of their game development to cheaper companies in China or other asian countries. These contractors are developing their talents, they are getting better at it, while the western studios are losing everything as their hire blue-hairs and activists for leadership positions.
The same thing is happening to the animation sector, they all outsourced to South Korea and China, now both countries are making their own anime.

Shinobi is a Sega of Japan IP, just like Streets of Rage 4 before it (another game Lizardcube worked on) they have to develop those titles respecting and following the inspiration and supervision of the Japanese creators because they are working as contractors. The developers are Western, but spiritually it is an Eastern game.

Mercury Steam and Retro Studio are also western developers but their work on the Metroid games did not deviate from Nintendo of Japan's supervision, standards or sensibilities, henceforth even if the work is geographically taking place in a Western studio, it is Easter inspired by the nature of the IP and its conception.

Meanwhile Assassin's Creed: Shadows is being developed by a French studio but that is an example of a game that pretends to have Eastern inspiration but it has Western minded "sensibilities" at its core and it shows.

Interesting titbit; Oscar Diaz, the guy whose tweets are in the link, says he was working on future playstation hardware UI. PS6 2026, baby.
Sony already said PS5 is near the end of its lifecycle so this seems very likely. I know most people's reaction is "huh? PS5 didnt even really begin yet did it?"
This piss weak event might have been intended to almost be PS5's last hurrah but this was all they had to show
I can understand them wanting to put the PS5 behind them but nothings going to change until they have a solid slate of exclusive games that are actually good and not wokeslop, live service or ported to PC in a year

If the PS6 is more of the same, they might as well as not bother. Games that take an entire generation to make, will cost 79.99, will run at the speed of a geriatric slug, will not be exclusive anyway and will sell like shit on a machine that cost way more than it is worth are what will break the industry like it is '82 all over again only perhaps worse. New console, same as the old console.

As nice as it is for Days Gone to get a remastering, I'm pragmatic about its reality - it'll have some graphical upgrades and a couple of extra modes that serve as bells and whistles without adding much to improve the core experience. I like there will be a Permadeath mode, but those bigger badder Hordes in Horde Assault? They should incorporate those into the main story. There should be a harder difficulty above Survival 2, where you are afraid to do too much at night because the hordes are so gargantuan and there are so many of them roaming about. That and remove the unlimited fuel cans to make travel more desperate.

It's a crime they won't get a sequel and it'll be shelved along with the 50 other IPs that Sony neglects on the regular. But hey, at least Horizon will be overrepresented in everything, right?
