God fucking damnit. I bought the remake ages ago since I never got around to playing the original, thinking it would just be a graphically touched up version, and then I find this thread. Token niggerization and wahmins aside, how's the remake for a completely new player? Shouldn't be terrible, right? ...right? I've played and beaten all other Soulsbornes, if that helps.

I can only speak as someone who loved the original. It’s so bad, the art direction sucks ass. Atmosphere is totally ruined, the music in the nexus is completely different for no reason. It lost it’s kind of “Japanese gamers making a love letter to Western CRPGs” charm, now just looks like every other game, overly affected with dumb shiny filter on everything.
But it’s all totally playable and I can’t deny the base game is still a legit as hell soulsborne.

Ugh, fucking typical. I guess I might have a really good experience if I play through the remaster first and then emulate the original.

In a world where games take 5 years to make why should we care about 1 or 2 years results? Hulst's shitty year was all on the back of games that Jim Ryan greenlit.
Concord was Hermen Hulst's pet project, he said it was the future of playstation and claimed it would be the greatest game of our era and their star wars level franchise and he was the one who championed sony buying the studio behind it for a ridiculous price
and as I already told you before, the director of Days Gone said Hulst personally shot down a Days Gone sequel, so clearly he was in charge of greenlighting things
Hulst was head of worldwide studios and directing their output.
and Hulst didnt start this shit just now, he has been pushing for live service games since RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, another one of his precious baby flops everyone forgot existed

If you can emulate the original I’d say just do that and throw the remake in the garbage. It’s not like the remake “fixed“ anything or added much in QOL enhancements besides faster loading I suppose. It’s really just… flavorless and the original remains an absolute classic. On the other hand, if you are looking to play multiplayer play the remake, but when I played it it seemed pretty dead.

A fair point, should be possible to sell the remaster second hand for a decent penny still.

just finished demon's souls, probably the best credit song from soft has made. pretty good overall but that blue dragon nigger can go fuck himself

I was asking from the perspective of a shareholder but I agree. The PS6 is fucked. Last gen graphics are seen as good enough and the price of both games and consoles has gone way up. Building a PC or buying a Nintendo console (which can run nearly any game with enough optimisation) is going to be the way forward.
This has been the case since the PS4 days unless you really liked movie games.

What where they thinking with the pro.
Hey nobody is buying this shit, release it again and make it more expensive
TInfoil hat:

There was some fuckery in the background of the development of the PRO and it was sabotaged through maliciousness and/or incompetence.

When Mark Cerny (lead guy for PS4, PS5 and both Pros) builds a device, he makes it so that the devs have less work to do and have more resources to do it with. But the PS5PRO requires patches, made by devs (extra work) to unlock the resources of the PRO? The PS4PRO was 2 PS4s celotaped together, to make it easy for devs.
Something smells fishy.

Back then, there was enough game output to make up for it. Nowadays, it is even less games and the movie games are still among them. The PS4 felt like a console but the PS5 feels like a premade PC without Steam. Also, the PS4 still had exclusives.

PS4 had no games either, ALL of the best franchises were left to rot, Killzone committed sepuku, FF7 tech demo promised an actual faithful remake but we got a franchised expanded universe (YAY!), but where were the quirky Japanese games? Where’s the Tokyo Jungle style games that remind you this is a Japanese product? Oh right, Sony is no longer Japanese, they are Californian. It all makes sense now.

GT receiving another update that just shows that their priorities lie with nostalgia baiting the fanbase.

For those who don't know, GT4-6 made the series known for having "oddball" cars in a racing simcade. Things like Kei Vans, etc.

However, those games had well done car lists on top of those things. Plenty of relevant performance cars to choose from. Relevant racecars. Relevant budget performance cars etc.

GT7 has, for the last 2 years or so, been nostalgia baiting it's fanbase with updates, with either iconic cars from previous games or by adding oddball shit. The problem is that GT7 lacks the car list, event list, track list, career mode etc to support these things. Doesn't stop them and the retarded fanbase doesn't care. They did it again. The next update has a fucking UNIMOG.

A UNIMOG. A vehicle designed for a heavy offroad surfaces and overlanding, transport etc. In a game with some of the worst "dirt physics" period, with only a handful of events for offroad available, and with offroad AI being capped due to lack of capability, and where offroad events consist of sliding around set dirt courses. What a great choice.

Furthermore this now means that GT7 has more slow offroad vehicles and utility vehicles (5 total rn) than it has:

- Generations of Miata (2)
- Generations of Camaro (2, 3 if you count the custom racecar)
- 80/90s/2000s hot hatches (3 after this update)
- performance wagons (0)
- Generations of mustang (2)
- modern racecars (3 or 4)
- cadillac V series vehicles (0)
- 80 and 90s domestics (1)
- 2000s domestics (2)
- toyota celicas (2)
- Nissan that aren't Z, Skyline or S Chassis (0)
- Korean cars as a whole (4-5)
- street trucks (0)

I can just keep listing the piles of vehicles that belong a simcade track racer before you add 5-6 utility vehicles, especially when of those 5-6, 2 of them are literal reskins of other ones.

This is of course all after the fact of the lack of events, broken tuning, economy, classes, etc. GT7 after 3 years of updates only has slightly more events for singleplayer than GTS, the MULTIPLAYER FOCUSED GAME, had a month after it launched. After 3 years of support GTS had almost double the events GT7 does after the same time. And were getting A UNIMOG.

0 complaints from the fanbase, UWU quirky GT wierd cars

From what I understand, it's like the SotC remake they did. Taken on its own, it is pretty good and gameplay-wise, there are no noticeable downgrades or any that I know of. But Bluepoint art team is really lacking compared to the team on the original, and they can't help the need to "improve" by adding new lighting or extra bits to the monster designs, even if it takes away the overall design and feel of the game.

They are a good dev team, but should be kept far away any games that already had a strong art design in the first place.

So without having a refence to the original game, you should be fine with it, especially if it's the only way you can play it easily . However if your PC can do PS3 emulation, you may just want to emulate Demon's Souls with the 60fps patch instead.

True but they still had a greater amount of games coming for the console. The Californication was not in full effect yet. Nowadays, things are much worse. No denying that.

Meh, what I remember most about PS4 was just tiling around the game library, uninspired and looking for something to play other than Chivalry 2 or Kingdom Come. I guess Bloodborne was supposed to be good but I never could get into it.

The “greater amount of games” is just relative to the xbone having even less, but it’s still an abysmal library. I’d say PS5 and PS4 have equally terrible catalogs

nah PS4 definitely had more actual exclusives like Wipeout Omega, Gravity Rush 2, The Last Guardian etc If you didn't like them fair enough but it was better than literally nothing like PS5. Of course Sony shut down all these studios because these games only sold a few million each but Hermen Hulst who totally has no say in what gets greenlit had Lego Horizon made which sold less than 100k across PS5, steam and switch combined

I used to love GT on the PS1,PS2 and PS3, but GT7 is just GTSport2.0 live service garbage. The GT developers are complete shit, they couldnt handle the PS3, so GT5 was not done before GT5 Academy edition arrived. Then for no fucking reasons instead of starting on PS4 with a new GT game. They had to continue and do GT6, that was basically just GT5 with a name change. When the PS4 arrived it was easy to develop for (compared to the PS3) but clearly the PS4 was a fucking problem too. Because now they had to start from scratch for the PS4(wasted all time on GT6), and had to hurry to put out a new GT game. So they put out the half arsed GTSport as a live service, now they could never be hold to a deadline ever again. So they could continue to put out the next unfinished GT game GT7, and do updates when ever they wanted. The fucking developer is all about fucking graphics and milk the fucking MTX. Its not about making a great game anymore. I just fucking hate what GT have become, back when the PS1 and GT1 was released, it was a magic moment, what a great time it was. Now its all destroyed by live service shit and never finish the game.

Like @ChefKiss said bellow, there were more than the nothing the PS5 got.

Hulst has been the worst thing to happen to Sony since the hacks.
