How true is this image? I think some of the things on here are a bit ridiculous to mock but the PSN service is one that is kinda true.

Maybe it’s me, but I just noticed in this meme that not once did they talk about the PSP. Instead, they talked about the PS VITA.

I guess they did not forget the fact that the VITA is still a thing, unlike most people.

DirectX's original code name was "Manhattan Project" because the guys behind it were so butthurt about Japanese dominance in gaming and Xbox was downstream of that seethefest.
One of the main contributors as to why Microsoft made the Xbox was because they were worried that Sony would eventually "replace the family computer" with their consoles since the PS2 doubled as a DVD player, which seemed like a tangible threat back then.

A non-cell game being ported to the cell. And one of the very first to, so it would have been them trail-blazing how to do it.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas had PS3 ports developed by Bethesda and they ran like ass. The only PS3 port of a Bethesda game that wasn't a mess was Oblivion's port, which was developed by 4J Studios. The worst thing about that version is the lack of DLC houses no one cares about and that bug that makes it impossible to cure vampirism. Bethesda should have gotten 4J to do the other ports.

Sony continuing to suffer fianancially is objectively a good thing, if I had to choose one of the big 3 to sacrifice at the altar it would be them, it would cause Publishers to move away from GaaS slop

Looking at old walkthrough vidoes that were captured with a PS3. The aesthetic was better than XBox that’s not named Blades and anything that came after the PS3. Just the sounds and aesthetics hit me right in the feels.

Wish i could get that on my Steamdeck.

Ratchet and Clank, the .hack series(the original and g.u.), Peter Jackson's King Kong(I'm still amazed at how well done this movie game was), Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition, Kingdom Hearts, San Andreas, RE4. My most fond memories was playing DBZ Budokai 3 with my brothers and cousins.

Top 5 off the top of my head:
- Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- Ratchet & Clank 3
- God of War 2

Frankly, I could do a top 10 with ease.

First PS2 game I played was either NFS Carbon or Eye Toy Play, don't remember. Didn't understand the controls of the former because I was like 4 years old. It took me a while later to dig the console up again. Favorite game? Burnout 3. Favorite exclusive/best played on PS2: Ratchet & Clank.

SMT Devil Survivor
Digital Devil Saga
Tales of the Abyss
FFX
FF XII
.Hack Series
Shadow Hearts series
Rouge Galaxy
Valkarie Profile Simera

Sony completely abandoning the JRPG genre was such a fucking letdown man.

It's not that "Sony abandoned the JRPG", it's the the JRPG noticed that releasing on PC can be a lucrative venture. People really underestimate how much of the market Sony had an ironfist control over purely because the Japanese did not dare release anything on PC till during the second half of the PS4 life cycle. Before that the Nintendo console was either weak or had a small install base so nobody bothered and Microsoft owned the gaijin boxes which which were outright ignored.

People talk about how the PS4 had no exclusives. It had them... till it stopped having them, 2017 was a banger year with Monster Hunter, Nier Automata and Yakuza 0 among the offerings. Turns out a couple of years later those 3 were on PC and except for Square, all other companies were suddenly doing simultaneous releases on PS4 and PC at the same time. And suddenly one of the bastions of Sony which was Japanese games just shattered.

I bought my PS2 at a Sears in 2001. It was the last one there and the dude who sold it to me said someone asked for him to put it to the side so he can buy it. Dude never came back to buy it so i bought it.

Got Ridge Racer V and Unreal Tournament that me and my best friend at the time could play. My favorite games were Silent Hill 2, FFX, Disgaea 2, Persona 3 FES, GTA 3 series, and Metal Gear Solid 2/3.

Amazing system that i still emulate to this day.
