Sony hate thread

I was talking about the Switch 1, but yes, I agree, Nintendo fucked themselves over, though Sony is already increasing their prices too, so none of them are really poised to take advantage of the situation, though at least Nintendo has been making lots of money in the past few years, unlike Sony.

Sony EU raised the price on the digital PS5 and lowered the price on the disc drive. Standard PS5 is still the same price. I feel for Australia and New Zealand they got totally fucked over. Anyway it will be interesting to see how the Switch2 will do in 6 months or a year after release with their prices.

I imagine Nintendo gets a slice of humble pie and lowers the price, since they have enough room to do so and still remain profitable, given that they always sell their console at a profit, unlike Sony or Microsoft, and have deep coffers to weather the storm.

Sony already had the most expensive console on the market. Increasing the price of the PS5 (which will mean an even more expensive PS6) makes Sony unable to capitalise on the Switch 2 backlash. They do the same things Nintendo does, only worse and without the exclusives to back it up.
it also makes PlayStations (and Xboxs as well) main appeal away, given the fact that Consoles were cheaper than PCs, because Sony ports everything to PC now you might as well just get a PC since you can do other shit on it and have a bigger library, if they sell it at an $700-$800 mark-up they are shooting themselves in the foot, for slightly more you could get a mid-range Gaming PC that performs just as well as a console would

Sunset Overdrive, one of the best games ever made.

Recore, a relatively decent one.

Gears.

And Crackdown 3 was plenty of fun.
Agreed.

The older I get and the longer time has passed the more I think the religious fundamental types from the 2000s were proven right on a lot of things.
I remember being mocked for using the term "gay agenda" unironically, and speculating as to what they're gonna do. LGBT went beyond my wildest predictions.

I'm sure Nintendo will get lots of good exclusives over time but it's a slim launch lineup.

People forget that the Xbone actually had a pretty decent set of games for its launch window with Killer Instinct, D4, and Titanfall. Which are all easily better than fuckin Knack or Killzone: Tech Demo. They fucked up their messaging that bad that people would rather play Knack than Titanfall. Killer Instinct was easily the best fighting game of the generation and of course Microshit abandons it.

Sony are just fucking retarded. They should be dropping the price considerably, not just because it's the fifth fucking year of the generation and they should be attracting casuals, but because they should be competing with Nintendo when they drop their shiny new toy.

Fucking morons. PS5 is lagging in sales behind PS4 and I think this is their way of quietly abandoning Europe and focusing solely on the states.

They will use tariffs as an excuse, just like they used currency exchange rates as an excuse to raise the price of the console everywhere outside of America in 2022.

Nintendo is the only company that still gives incentive to buy their consoles in the first place the exclusives at launch are Mario Kart World and DK but in a year or two when you start seeing 3D Mario and Zelda it’ll start selling even better, as much as many people are complaining about the switch 2 game prices and hoping it fails it’s just not going to, in Nintendos eyes it’s going to be a massive success, granted it’s probably not going to hit Switch 1 numbers but it won’t be a commercial failure like the Wii U

These loss leader AAA prestige moviegame walking simulators they're known for that can never possibly make back their budget aren't as insane as they seem on the surface, they shouldn't be looked at as products for sale, but rather as advertisements for the playstation ecosystem itself. Sony's entire strategy relies on them being THE default home of aggressively monetized AAA hellgames, and why buy an xbox that has all the same games as a ps5 when you can get a ps5 and have spiderman or whorizon bundled in?
No, a loss leader game is something like Shadow of the Colossus, unique influential games or games that cater to niche or core gamer demands..
Spiderman is literally marvel slop designed for massive sales to appeal to the mass market. These games are not only meant to make money, they are CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to. If any of Sony's marvel games sell less than 6 million Disney get to enforce all kinds of penalties on them
Horizon, Last of Us, God of War, they're all meant to sell big and be profitable, they killed tons of beloved unique franchises that were synonymous with playstation like Wipeout, to chase these big sales. They just fucking failed.
Every single one of these was supposed to have a live service to make even more money too, their plan just completely shat itself and died.
Horizon 2 and Last of Us 2 are not well thought of, or even thought of at all in Horizon's case. Nobody is singing the priases of Sony's first party offerings anymore, they're all questioning where the fuck the games are

Vib Ribbon comes to mind, not something that many people actually buy but it's a unique little thing that gets people talking(for years) and it didn't cost 300 million bucks to develop. Did Vib Ribbon make money? Don't know. Was it ever expected to bring in a billion dollars? Certainly not.

and I remember head of playstation Shawn Layden giving a big speech about how unique little games like that specifically were the soul of Playstation
...right before he was chased out the door under suspicious circumstances and Druckmann & Hulst took full control, then strangely enough the soul of playstation was 50 Horizon games

It wouldn't take that much here to even remaster, just AI the textures and update the lighting. Hultst prefers his BBW, even if it makes no financial sense.
Killzone quadrilogy and Destiny remastered while slapping a VR mode in both is a money spinner.

Sony are fucking retarded. Their VR headset is mint and left to rot when they could have owned the market. I can see why Jim Ryan fucking bailed now.

They're contractually obligated to make DISNEY money, which is why sony is willing to take a hit and bundle them so aggressively. I'm not saying they aren't normalfag bait, journobait mass market appeal slop, but with the absurd budgets they have and how often they're bundled, they CAN'T make sony a profit, but they're not meant to, at least not directly. Sure, they don't want them to just be a money sink and at least make SOMETHING back, but they exist to be bundled and say "why spend $500 on an xbox one when you can spend $400 on a ps4 pro and get the last of us remastered, whorizon, god of bore, and spiderman all free!" because SIE is  DEEPLY unprofitable without that 30% cut of all microtransactions through psn, which means they need to remain the dominant normalfag AAA storefront.
