A modded original Xbox and backwards compatible Playstation 3 is a must in this current gaming generation. The diversity of games that existed during that period is unsurpassed. I would argue that was also the peak Capcom era. I have a two terabyte Xbox with almost the entire library installed, furthermore, it functions as an all purpose emulator. Tons of games on that system have disappeared to time. I would kill for a next generation Mechassault or a sequel to Shadow Of Rome, but in this current age of woke it is better to play the classic versions. I can't believe they butchered the Onimusha 2 "remaster" with censorship. Somethings are better left in the past.

Do you have any info on how to mod an OG Xbox? I didn't know you could download all of the games for it. I would jump all over that.
I replayed the Kingdom Under Fire games and HO-LEE shit do they still hold up. Even if the graphics are 25 years old and a little bland, it doesn't matter. The characters, battles, feeling of being a complete bad arse is just amazing.
Fuck, I miss that period of gaming.

You need a copy of Splinter Cell (Pandora Tomorrow iirc) and then you just use a custom dongle to flash the console. It's very simple. Also don't skip changing out or removing the clock capacitor or it will eventually kill the console.

I wish I could give you more info, but it has been a long time since I modded my two Xboxes. Most of the work was done over FTP. I ended up transferring XBMC for Gamers on to my hard drive. The most recent console I soft modded was a WII-U and PS Vita.

There are a handful of games that it works with. I used MechAssault for mine and added a spare 1TB HDD I had lying around.

The "Endgame" exploit removes the need for a game, you can just exploit the dashboard itself with a specially crafted save file. All you need is a small flash drive and a USB adapter to connect it to the Xbox.

Thinking about it, thanks to this thread, I used to have a 'chipped' xbox that played modded games. I used to download and burn them myself. Man, 24 years fucking flies by.

I'm wondering if Marathon gets cancelled. The last thing they want is to put this up against gta6 and whatever gta online replacement comes out, but with how extensively they'll need to audit, and how long those audits will take, they might not deem it worth it with how lackluster the response from even their own paid shills was to the beta. On the other hand, fairgames sounds like it's in even worse shape apart from the plagiarism, and they likely don't want to cancel both. My gut says one of them never gets released though, it's just hard to say exactly which one it'll be.

Naughty Dog are rumoured to be working on a new game that isn't intergalactic that has been in development for three years. I reckon a slap-dash TLoU 3 will launch, possibly with factions pulled out of the dustbin.
Mega lulz is marathon and fairgame are cancelled, HBO don't renew TLoU for season 3 and the intergalactic bombs.
Sony financial arm has spun away from Sony proper, after decades of in-fighting. Watch this space to see what happens

I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of the SIE execs (which is hard to do, since I don't have a Rekieta-special cocktail of drugs and booze in my system to mimic the extensive brain damage they so clearly have) and figure out which outcome they think is worse. On the one hand, canceling a game is probably just yet another in the pile to them, and releasing a game only to concord it again is probably more embarrassing. On the other, I doubt they're eager to cancel their entire slate again. I feel like they'll cancel one and direct an absurd amount of resources to the other, no matter how costly it already is, just to try and save face.

It's Sony, they'll do both. Release both costing hundreds of millions, then cancel both.
The more games that get cancelled, the more projects that get delayed, never to be released, the more Sony really, really, really, REALLY, need GTA6 to be a smash hit. Nigtergalactic isn't going to save them

Sony has sucked since the end of the PS3 era. That was the last good console made by them mainly because they actually had fun games and exclusives on that console. Infamous, Ratchet & Clank Future Saga, God of War 3 etc. Ever since the PS4 dropped and they started pandering to fat feminists, faggots, niggers and troons like they still do Sony started to go downhill. The PS4 was ok and they had some good exclusives such as Ghost of Tsushima, the FF7 Remake, Uncharted 4 and Genshin Impact even though I play that game on PC now. As for the PS5 I just have it for Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and FF7 Rebirth even though I plan on playing those games on PC as well so my PS5 will only be used just for Amazon prime and to play DVDs and Blu-Rays. Jim Ryan is gone thank God. Since that cunt was was responsible for alienating the Japanese market with his retarded policies and moving from Japan to CA was a very stupid idea. I don't know much about Hideaki Nishino and hopefully he can undo the damage done by Jim Ryan. I know there is a war brewing between Sony Japan and Sony America and I have a hunch that the Japanese side is running out of patience with the American side especially after Concord crashed and burned. They have the upper hand since they shutdown that dumpster fire of a game. Marathon is going to crash and burn as well and Bungie will suffer as a result.

I cannot see Apple venturing into the console market. They already have Apple Arcade as a niche in the (mobile) gaming market. They get subscriptions and they can regulate what games can be allowed with their service. Win-win. Also, their current fight between Epic because of Fortnite and microtransactions means that Apple does not play nice with other people.
As much as I loved my Xbox 360, I would've loved to have PS3 around 08-09. I understand why I couldn't because of the high price at the time ($399-$499), but the marketing for it made it appear to be a premium gaming machine. Blu-Ray instead of DVD, built-in Wi-Fi, free online, backwards compatibility (until Sony removed it a couple years after launch to save costs), high quality exclusives that showcased the PS3's potential (Motorstorm, Ratchet & Clank Future: ToD, Heavenly Sword) showed that Sony could've been an early contender.
