Sony hate thread

The ps5 pro had a $300 price increase over the base model despite barely being any more powerful other than slightly more optimized PiSSeR ai upscaling. Since then, in many countries, it has gotten multiple price INCREASES. The ps5pro being $700 (disc drive and stand not included) was 100% to prime people for how expensive the ps6 is going to be.
Sony and sony fans have gone very, very quiet about the PS5PRO. What happened to 'lulz, try and buy a PC at this price'.

I'm genuinely curious why Sony is so interested in making their platform as unattractive as possible. I never hear any good news about them getting better. It's mind boggling how people are still buying PS5 despite that.
There's a non-trivial portion of gamers for whom purchasing things is the primary hobby, well above actually playing anything. You don't need to convince those people with a compelling value proposition because a product's mere existence is reason enough to buy it.

If your business can court those people while turning away the icky discerning customers who will make unreasonable demands for quality goods at a fair price, you've got it made.

Does the PS5 have any games yet I had one and turned it on twice in two years before selling it?
There's astrobot, which is fine. Nothing more, nothing less. After that, you've got, uhhhhhhhh...
About a hundred ai generated shovelwares that tag themselves as "easy platinum" so the most craven and degenerate whales will fork out a couple bucks so they can say they got an extra trophy than they would have otherwise.

Not really no. Some games come out for it first, but it's mostly just boring slop.

If you’re like me and wanted to buy one to play Stellar Blade, the good news is that it’s on Steam for the PC and you can play it on my Steam Deck if you have one.

Because if you are smart about sourcing and selecting parts, a decent PC that can play the same games most people use a PS5 for can be build for that amount. I believe Ponies are genuinely scared of the potential price of the PS6. Consoles cannot longer presume of being price competitive, not with all the jacked up prices of games and of online subscriptions.

There is nothing, everything that's worth playing is coming to PC or is already there.

I still like to think there's a "gentlemen's agreement" among various consumer-facing corporations and conglomerates to see which of them can best pull off the "boiling frog" gambit the longest, just to figure out where the line is on what consumers will actually tolerate before they finally say "nah fuck you, we'll go lube up and get fucked by someone else for awhile."

All these gaming companies are convinced they can reshape the industry to be exclusively GaaS and so they're just experimenting with how fast & hard they can push it. I'm confident that's why we see a different major vendor screw up badly in each generation. They're taking turns being the bad guy to see what bullshit sticks and what gets adequate pushback.

'member how Microsoft was the first to charge for online services for their console? Everybody else mocked them, called them greedy, and even promised "nah we won't do that." Now it's the standard across all consoles. Nintendo declares "game prices shall now be $80!" Everybody screamed at them, and everyone else "only" raised prices to $70, and suddenly they're the good guys for not being "as greedy" as Nintendo. Sony starts fucking with actual sales numbers by e.g. "finding millions of sold PS2s we forgot to include" and "counting engagements instead of sales?" Now they're all lying that way, and sales numbers are getting harder to find across the board.

They're just colluding to manipulate the industry, switching seats every generation so no one of them ever loses too much to just drop out of the market.

Remember, add on 400-500 to the console price for online access for a comparison to a PC.

The only reason they have been the past couple gens is because of pc parts skyrocketing due to crypto. Unfortunately, they might keep pace despite being horrific power for the price due to the absolute optimization crisis.

That makes sense but wouldn't you want the most customers possible? There's probably a golden ratio where working/expending any more resources doesn't yield a sufficient enough increase in profit to justify improving a product/service, but I can't imagine Sony is anywhere near that. Can a company really just be this complacent and incompetent? Seems like an abdication of responsibility to their shareholders.

I'm serious, a monkey could run a better gaming division than Sony is.

I think you're probably right, at least in certain aspects. They probably indirectly collude by signalling certain ideas, sometimes industry trends seem manufactured, like the price hikes you mentioned.

The problem with that is, a certain percentage of those physical sales will return to the store and then compete with your own item as a used copy. Nintendo sort of gets away with it because what idiot sells back a Nintendo game for a fifth of its value but for these third parties the elimination of physical would mean they're able to keep prices on old titles as high as they want. Its a good question of maximizing player value but I don't really have the answer.

Yes. hundreds of third party multiplats

No one is buying a PS5 because they can play Astrobot or Gran Turismo 7 exclusively on it. Stop being disingenuous

The purpose of a console is exclusives. Full stop.
According to Sony 90% of software sales are third party titles. So according to the company itself and the 80 million owners who bought it consider its purpose to be a Third party game machine with the occasional timed exclusive.
So, it's a gimp low end pc for retards?
Depends on what you consider low end. For the 10-15% of the 140 million Steam users who have competent hardware then yeah perhaps. But for the rest of that 140 million steam users on laptops, steam decks and poverty setups in E.E., Brazil and China then it's a multiple times more powerful than what they have

Is it my fault sony hasn't made a good game for 3 generations, and just shits out cinematic drudgery made by hacks who couldn't get a netflix contract back when netflix was giving them to everyone and hate the fact they're working with video games and try to make their video game as little like a video game as possible?

You're either trolling and disingenuous or low IQ If you think Sony hasn't made a good game since PS2 because you can't fathom not having constant action that stimulates your ADHD tiktok fried brain every 5 seconds

Tell me where this happened because I have no idea what you're talking about. Also i assume something like The Last of Us is torture for your mind when it doesn't have stuff constantly jumping around on the screen
