I think people are being a little willfully retarded when it comes to the "magic SSD folded 1000 times" stuff.
It was clear that whenever Sony beat off the PS5's SSD as being uniquely able to do something, they just meant that the PS4's HDD couldn't do it.
Continuing to hold a grudge over this is like continuing to hold a grudge over your parents telling you Santa is real.

I've seen hundreds of posts at this point saying "remember when fanboys said this stupid thing about the SSD?" and never once actually seen one of these fanboy posts about it. I don't think anyone really fucking cared unless you dig through what 12 year old spics say on Twitter.

They exist. I know CONSOOMERS IRL who are like this. They watch Sony's press conference and get hyped for the magic SSD and the PS5's APU teraflops. If there weren't so many technologically illiterate CONSOOMERS the console market wouldn't be so large.
 
It’s like the big three are all competing to see who can be the biggest retard with pricing. Just wait, we’re gonna see a $399 Switch 1 a year from now. It’s because of tariffs or something, you see.

Putting their prices up in their biggest territory, with no games, while the Switch 2 is the fastest selling console to date?

Sony must be hurting financially for a move this desperate. Sony must be gagging for GTA6 to drop to save them.

It's a "The World Ends With You copied Persona" situation. There were enough retarded people saying it to be noticed, but they were outnumbered by people laughing at them.

They always use some excuse to point to because they think their customers are stupid and don't know that the cost of console production decreases over time, and might take the bait. They used the excuse of the low exchange rates vs USD a few years back to jack up prices in the exact same way, and once the exchange rate equalized again? MSRP remained the same. The only problem is everyone followed Sony's lead in raising prices.

GPUs have actually been falling hard in price. A lot of cards are sitting at MSRP now and a few SKUs are even available below MSRP. And I expect it to continue since now the business papers are openly talking about the AI crash.

It's honestly a pretty good time to be buying parts.

The industry is broke and running on financial debt of today and tomorrow's debt of promises for a brighter future; more games, more hardware more graphics. It's a scam and the house of cards will soon crumble.

Never in my 40 years of gaming have I heard of a console increase in price. The increase in price again. The increase in price again 5 years into the gen, all while having no fucking games and focusing on MAU and cancelling projects.

Sony are desperate because the sales figures are phony.
