MSN chatrooms for me. In the UK they had them by region and we formed out own, non MSN-bot controlled room and give admin privileges to everyone, rather than have one golden hammer who controlled the room.
We met up in town for a drink once a year. Good, wholesome, enjoyable times.

Now look what we have; kids, chavs and blacks hurling pointless abuse, blasting music and corporations listening in to make sure we don't say naughty words. I hate the present.
 
Sony financials are out.

PS5 still 2 million behind PS4 even though they've SHIPPED a load more PS5s vs PS4 that were flying off the shelves.

GoY has sold 3.3 million units in a month
GoT sold 2.5 million in three days and it hit the 5 million mark after 5 months.
GoT was the fastest selling SEI game on PS4 by reaching 5 million in 5 months (which says a lot about how long it took to sell TLOU 2, Spidermon and Horizon)

PS5 hasn't grown or contracted.

So in essence, the PS5 (as in the actual shit that is related to the PS5 and not from the PS4 or PC) has completely stagnated almost completely through no fault but thier own?

While doing the modern snoy trick of sending out as many PS5's as possible to warehouses and saying "look, they sell!" while the consoles sit and collect dust.

A clever company would announce a massive price drop for black friday and clear the channels, ready to stuff them again, to make it look like a popular console.

The sony cope is that GTA6 will help them ship enough units to push the PS5 to 100 million units sold. The problem is, they're assuming anyone who wants a PS5 for GTA6 hasn't already bought one. And with MS on their arse and selling nothing and Switch selling a bajillion units a week, one has to wonder if the demand will be there?
 
The nips hate the digital-only ps5, they sold 700 of the things the entire damn week in the whole country last week. And despite the drop, it's still more expensive than a switch 2 bundled with mario kart. There will be a small boost from this, but nothing lasting or substantial.

Keep in mind, playsation isn't just stagnating, it's stagnating, possibly mildly contracting, while its most direct competitor (xbox) is utterly imploding, and during a period of time where its secondary competitors were phasing out an 8 year old console in its twilight years that was underpowered all the way back at launch (nintendo) and dealing with completely prohibitive costs for parts as well as crisis level issues with optimization (pc/steam). If the ps5 were an actual good system with worthwhile games, it could have easily done switch numbers given the current dire state of the gaming landscape.
 
I looked it up, and the digital model launched at 44k yen. This one is 55k. It's not even a price decrease, it's just a partial revert of all the insane price jumps for a gimped model.

What is the point of a Japan-only PS5 after all this time? It isn't stock constrained by scalpers anymore, nobody wants it. Just to show you "care" about Japan? Prove it by making Japanese games that don't suck dick.

Capcom's president called the PS5's a "barrier" a couple of weeks/months ago when talking about Monster Hunter Wilds poor performance. My guess is that the third parties are getting pissed about how shit their games are selling on it. Using Monster Hunter as an example again Monster Hunter Rise outsold Monster Hunter Wilds this year. Rise was released over four years ago.

I'll add a slight bit for clarification, Rise outsold Wilds this fiscal year, not calendar year. Essentially, Wilds sales dropped off a fucking cliff immediately after launch. I'm also not really sold on the ps5 being the cause of Wilds poor sales, the game is just ass, though I don't think the fact ps5 owners don't buy games has helped. The fact capcom, who was ride or die with sony literally a year ago, is willing to throw sony under the bus this hard is very telling about ps5 software sales though.

I imagine it's Sony trend chasing Nintendo (who else) because they have a Japan-only Switch 2 model and the thing selling like hot cakes made them think they can just copy the idea and PS5s will suddenly start selling super well in Japan.

Given the two are in the midst basically in the midst of a lolsuit slapfight (Palworld lawsuit that Sony is directly involved in but seemingly arn't doing much for PocketPair unlike what they've been doing against Tencent's Light of Motiram because Herman Hulst can't comprehend the idea that nobody actually likes Horizon), they really do deserve each other.
