Yay, another one of my favorite franchises gets raped.

Seems Sony is only interested in Marvel slop, "revenge bad" lesbian simulators, and live service trashfires. Everything else gets pushed to the side.

Fuck Sony.
 
I found a CECHA PS3 at a local game store, but the owner did not get to fix it yet. I’m guessing YLoD or disk drive issues. That thing was HEAVY. Heavier than I remember.

With the state of the game industry, it’s probably for the best that Sony doesn’t try to bring back dead franchises. Could you imagine if Sucker Punch made another Infamous and made Cole MacGrath gay? Or gave us a lesbian protagonist and the villain would be an evil white Christian man?

Being young during that era was thinking that religious fundie types were nothing more than cringe out of touch killjoys, growing older in the present was realizing that while they didn't have the best messaging and optics most of those types had a point that Jesus and faith was being replaced by conspicuous consumer materialist consumption and we're now living in the long term consequences of that.

I'm at a lost. What is it about this franchise that compelled Tencent to try to make an MMO out of it first, was denied and got so ass mad that they made a Temu version instead. And NCSoft actually got the license and are making that MMO for real. Is there some strange appeal that this franchise has to Asians? Is it a cultural thing am I missing about the robodinosaurs and the technotribal aesthetic that just speaks to them?

THIS is the thing that baffles me the most. Tencent - a hundreds-of-billions-of dollars company - wants to make an MMO out of your game....and you tell them NO? Hulst really is delusional, JFC
 
Hermen Hulst is the type of guy who just doesn't get the message. You can tell him to his face that horizon is not sony's zelda, or sony's yakuza, or sony's grand theft auto, but he will not see it. He genuinely believes he has this IP that is grandiose by virtue of financial brute force.

It's a nothingburger. In five years (post-AI bubble burst) it'll be viewed as just another tool in the creative toolbox (because that's all it is, regardless of what its current or future models are sourced from).

Slop is slop, yes. Ai slop isn't much different from regular slop because ai slop takes slop to make slop. I would much rather not have any slop at all and encouraging ai is encouraging slop.
